e-Yantra Competitions:
For Students:
e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC):
engages students using Project Based Learning
(PBL) to implement a solution to a real world
problem. Robots, accessories, training material, and
rulebook are given to
teams selected for
participation, free of cost.

e-Yantra Robotics Competition Plus

(eYRC+): designed to impart advanced topics
such as image processing through a theme for teams
selected for participation. Runs parallel with eYRC.

For Teachers:
e-Yantra Robotics Teacher Competition
(eYRTC): engages teachers through a hands-on

3. Providing support and advice to set up a Robotics

lab so that by the time the teachers are trained, the
lab is ready at the college for the teachers to get their
students involved through projects.

Benefits to the college

Training students through hands-on projects is
imperative in producing successful innovators and
entrepreneurs. Creating the infrastructure with labs
and trained teachers provides competitive
advantage to colleges in attracting talented
students. e-Yantra facilitates the infrastructure
creation by sharing its experience and expertise.

e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI)

e-Yantra is a project by IIT Bombay to spread
education in Embedded systems and Robotics. This
project has been sponsored by Ministry of Human
Resource Development (MHRD) through the
National Mission on Education through ICT
(NMEICT).
One of our initiatives, e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative
(eLSI) supports infrastructure creation at colleges
by providing a platform for training teachers both in
theory and applications of Robotics, in addition to
providing guidance in setting up a Robotics lab at a
college.
eLSI aims to enable colleges to teach Robotics and
Embedded systems in an effective manner by:
1. Training teams of 4 teachers from colleges in a
region, in the basics of Embedded systems theory
and Micro-controller programming through a 2day workshop.
2. Engaging the teams through the regional eYantra Robotics Teacher Competition (eYRTC)
where teachers implement a Robotics project over a
period of three months. Each college team is given a
Robotic kit complete with tutorials and accessories
and is taken through the steps of project
implementation life cycle by the e-Yantra team.

Benefits include:
l Better BE projects with help from e-Yantra open
source community
l Increased enthusiasm amongst students;
Robotics club for students
l Better performance at competitions such as the
e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC)
l Better trained and motivated faculty
l Better prospects for engaging with other
NMEICT projects such as 10K teacher training,
Spoken Tutorials, e-Kalpa, FOSSEE
l Better visibility for college nationally
l Continued engagement with e-Yantra through
courses on advanced modules, Ideas
competition, etc.

Participation procedure
It is necessary for a college to invest in creating
infrastructure, a Robotics lab, where students have
an opportunity to explore interdisciplinary skills.
A college needs to commit the following to
participate in this initiative:
1. Funds to equip a basic Robotics lab (in addition to
space and other infrastructure)
2. A team of 4 teachers to be trained through the
initiative.
e-Yantra Provides:
1. Training to 4 teachers nominated by the college
2. Three robotic kits to the college
3. Exciting prizes and certificates to teachers
participating successfully
