Death of a Salesman
Welcome to the audition process for Death of a Salesman at KMC Onstage.
Please read through the entire packet. In order to make the audition process as
efficient as possible, we have set up some simple guidelines. Audition forms are
part of this packet.
Running the auditions will be: Cheryl Navo, Director of Death of a Salesman, and
Nate Records, Artistic Director of KMC ONSTAGE.
We strive to cast fairly with the guiding objective of assembling the best overall
cast that will serve the directorial vision for the show. Some of you may not be
cast. We hope you will not be discouraged and will opt to help us in another
capacity if you do not get a part. Thank you for auditioning, and break a leg!

Cast Announcement
The cast list for Death of a Salesman will be finalized soon after auditions are
complete. The director reserves the right to call back actors, if they are so able.
Roles will be offered by email and/or phone. We ask that you respond as quickly
as possible with an acceptance or refusal so that roles may be recast if necessary.
Rehearsals
A read-thru will be scheduled (conflicts pending) following auditions.
There will be approximately 4-5 rehearsals per week.
Rehearsals will generally run from 6:30 to 8:30 (later as we get closer to
opening night).
Expect that the amount of rehearsal time may increase as we approach
opening night.
Work calls are Saturdays from 1pm-5pm. Your participation is needed at
work calls, and they will be on the schedule.
Some conflicts are allowed with prior approval by production team.
Rehearsal times and dates may be adjusted by the Director based on the
availability of the actors who are cast, so it is important to list ALL conflicts.
Expectations
1. Be on time and ready to work! If you are going to be late for rehearsal, clear it with the
Director or Stage Manager in advance.
2. Do not miss a scheduled rehearsal unless it is on your conflict sheet and has been cleared
with the production team. Missing rehearsals may result in your removal from the production.
3. Conduct yourself appropriately. Your language and behavior are expected to be rated G.
4. Treat the theater with respect. Keep rehearsal spaces, stage, dressing rooms, etc., clean
throughout the rehearsal and performance process. No food or drink allowed on stage! Cell
phones should be turned off or set to mute.
5. Treat each other with respect. Communicate in a respectful manner. Never give directions or
comments to other actors on their performance. On stage or off stage, all roles and jobs in this
production are equally important.
6. Treat props and costumes with respect. You are responsible for your costumedont lose it
or damage it. Dont touch other peoples props, costumes, or personal property. Costumes and
props do not go home with youthey remain at the theater.
7. Use rehearsal time productively. The primary focus of rehearsal is perfecting performance
not socializing or playing. Actors who are waiting to work on stage should be reviewing lines,
reviewing blocking, dances, music, or reading materials related to the production. When you
are not needed on stage, conduct yourself quietly and respectfully so others can concentrate
on their performance.
8. Attitude is job one! An awesome attitude goes a long way with everyone. This play is not
about you, it is about all of usand our performance for our audience. The production will be
fun and enjoyable for everyoneas long as we all work hard and cooperate with each other.
The spirit of this agreement is to ensure that all actors, stage crew members, and supporting
staff are treated fairly as creative, collaborative artists who are working toward the same goal
putting on a great show!
Agreement. I have read and understand both the time commitment and the expectations listed
in this packet. I agree to abide by these rules, and understand that if I do not, I may be removed
from the play. I have listed all my schedule conflicts and understand that I may not be allowed
to miss a rehearsal unless it is listed on my conflict list. I understand that I may not miss any
tech week rehearsals or any performances.

Death of a Salesman
By Arthur Miller
Willy Loman has spent his entire life pursuing the American Dream, living out his belief in
salesmanship as a way to reinvent himself. But somehow, the riches and respect he covets
have eluded him. At age sixty-three, he searches for the moment his life took a wrong turn, the
moment of betrayal that undermined his relationship with his wife and destroyed his
relationship with Biff, the son in whom he invested all his faith.
Millers masterpiece has steadily seen productions all over the world since its 1949 debut. As
the noted Miller scholar, Christopher Bigsby states in his introduction, if Willys is an American
dream, it is also a dream shared by all those who are aware of the gap between what they
might have been and what they are.
