Superheroes

Know the difference between various superheroes


Know that there are female superheroes.
Get an introduction to the superhero theme we wi
exploring.

o Students will be working on this competency by writing a response to our class discussion ab

superheroes. They will be using a checklist.

o Students will work on this competency by participating in the class discussion and by writing
their written responses.

Lesson
Introduction:
1. I will start the discussion by asking the following question:
a. When I say the word superheroes, what do you think of?
b. What kind of books do we see superheroes in?
c. Where do you usually see superheroes?
Development:
1. I will keep eliciting student thinking about superheroes by asking the
following questions:
a. What makes superheroes different from ordinary people?
b. Which superheroes do you know?

c. What is different about Batman and Flash? Elastigirl and Invisible


woman?
d. What is the same?

Tasks:
2. Students will have to write about which superhero they would be if they co
be any superhero and why. If the students are not done. They will have to
bring it home for homework.

students are too
rowdy and
distracted?)

If the students are being too loud and are not focusing on the task at hand,
will give them a test from their Language Power book. They will have to d
the test quietly and individually. If they are finished, they can work on thei
handwriting skills in their handwriting book.

o Since we are having a classroom discussion, these students will be
tempted to call out or to answer questions without putting their han
up. If they disobey the rules of the circle, I will have to send them b
to their seats and take off Dojo points. If they keep calling out, I wi
ask for their agendas. The third time, I will write a note in their age
which they will have to sign by their parents.

o I will make sure these students are placed in front of me while the
students are sitting on the floor since these students tend to lose foc
By having these students close to me, I will be able to monitor the
behavior.

Differentiation:

Most of this lesson will be a classroom discussion about superheroes and t


differences and similarities between each other; therefore, I will not be abl
differentiate much. I could differentiate the amount of lines that some of th
students will have to write.

Assessment:

Student checklist
o I plan on giving the students a checklist. This checklist will help th
students remember the components that are supposed to be include
their response. I am also hoping this will support the students in
learning how to follow instructions.
I will be saving these papers as a first task for the superhero unit and will
serve as a diagnostic assessment.
