YouandtheotherplayersshoulddiscussthenatureoftheupcominggamewiththeGM.
Beforeanycharactersarecreated,theGMshouldoutlinesuchdetailsasgenre,setting,campaign
duration,storyboundaries,andexpectedtimecommitment.Asaplayer,youshouldlisten
closelytotheGMsdescriptionssinceitwillimpactdirectlyonthecharacteryouwishtocreate.
AskforclarificationofanyrulemodificationstheGMplanstouseaswellasany
backgroundrestrictionsonyourcharacter.Ifyouhaveanygamepreferencesinvolvingissues
suchascombatintensity,maturitylevel,ordramaversuscomedyratio,lettheGMknowabout
them.HelptheGMcreatethegamethatyouallwanttoplay.
StartingCharacterLevel
OneofthemostimportantthingsthattheGameMastershoulddiscusswithhisorherplayers
isthestartingcharacterLevel.Whilecharacterstraditionallystartat1stLevelinmostd20
Systemgames,theGMandplayersmaywanttoadventurewithmoreexperiencedandthus
