We doctors and staff here at WeliPoint Family Practice proudly serve patients of all ages, with all manner of
illness and across the remarkable spectrum of multiculturalism and languages that makes Ontario and
Toronto the envy of so many. Ontarios doctors have been working without a contract since March 2014. This
Provincial Government has unilaterally imposed cuts, claw backs and restrictions on your doctors that are
now going to directly and immediately affect the care I can deliver to you. This government refuses to
adequately fund healthcare, even though they acknowledge that health care costs will rise because of our
growing and aging population and the increased demand for care by you, our patients.

What will this look like for you? As you know, we have been a fully electronic Health Care Clinic for many
years. We are proud of our investment in this modernization and we had planned on moving forward by
implementing access online for appointment bookings. But, since the Ministry of Health has recently
withdrawn funding to offset the huge costs of the software licenses, IT support and hardware, we are not
able to roll out any further services of this kind. So well have to ask you to pay for each and every printout
of your results, emails, and all other uninsured services. There is a way we can continue to subsidize this
cost cutting our stall an-I .i ic h,urs, which we will not do. We will not be able to subsidize atter hours
flu shot clinics this year as we have in the past. We cant afford the extra cost of staffing. So we would please
ask that you get your shot at our office during a regularly scheduled appointment or at your local pharmacy.

Please also understand that anytime you go to a walk-in clinic the monies charged by those doctors come
out of my funding for your care. Yes, I pay for your visits to other clinics! Our office is open Monday-Friday
8am-7pm. We book same day appointments and we have walk-in hours for our patients with urgent care
needs from 5-7pm. The afte hours clinic is for urgent medical problems that cannot wait until I am next
available for you to see me. Please honor your commitment to me by using only our clinic for your health
care needs. For urgent probiems on Saturdays and Sundays, I do understand that some visits to walk in
clinics are unavoidable. But please call our designated TeleHealth nurse at 1-866-553-7205 before you visit
the walk in clinic for advice. This may avoid an unnecessary visit and it keeps your health care records
centralized in your electronic chart. That is part of the full service care we want to provide. You know that
my colleagues and I work long hours outside of the clinic here at WellPoint. Several of us are busy nights,
weekends and holidays deli ring your babies, staffing the emergency department, sports medicine clinics
in our community, and teaching mindful meditation. We teach medical students and residents to ensure that
there is a next generation of caring and competent practitioners to serve your health care needs. We attend
Continuing Medical Education courses at our expense, so that we stay up to date with the myriad of
advances happening in Healthcare. We serve on hospital committees and most importantly we advocate
tirelessly for you whenever you need care. You can remain secure that no matter what cuts the government
imposes, your health care will remai my priority!
