Event Name : Gender Vendor fucking gender since adam and eve.

Event Date : 20th November 2014


Event Time : 5 7 PM
Event Venue : Shop com, North campus
Event Description : This event is based on Judith Butler's theory of Gender Performativity. Through
this event the participants and the audience will go through an experience which
will make them aware about the performance of their gender by challenging the
existing gender performance norms.
Core Activity : Six participants will be chosen out of the registered participants through a lottery.
These chosen six will be assigned a gender based on a coin toss, according to which
they will be dressed and made-up. Once they are ready they will perform something
(see below) which is typically associated with a gender opposite to their assigned
gender.
Male Knitting, Crying and talking about how much he miss his mother, sitting
posture, making a birthday card.
Female Abusing (speaking a monologue from sakharam binder), weight lifting, sitting
posture, working with tools.
Action Plan : On the day of the event.

All the volunteers will be cross-dressed

Set-up starts at 4:00 PM.


Five volunteers will set up the performance area according to the ground plan.
Five volunteers will hand out the leaflets to the public at the shop com and spread the
awareness about the event.
Three volunteers will help coordinate and support the set-up activity.

Event will start with a dance performance. A boy will dance on Baby doll main sone di.
Time : 5 5:05 PM
This will be done in order to get the attention of the available audience.
Requirements - Sound system

After the dance performance, MC will open the event.


Time: 5:05 5:10 PM
Address the audience
Introduce and explain the event.
Requirements - Mic (sound system)

MC will call two volunteers from the audience both girls.


Time : 5:10 5:15 PM

He will co-ordinate an arm wrestling match between them.


Requirement Tall table

MC will invite Mr. Rajeev Velicheti, the mentor of the event, on to the dias.
Time : 5:15 5: 30 PM.
To talk about gender performativity.
Objectives of the event.

MC will introduce the core activity.


Time : 5:30 6:15 pm
Conduct the lottery to select the participants.
Call the selected candidates.
Conduct a coin toss to assign them their gender heads' female and tails' male.
All six participants will be sent to different makeup tables.
Where the make-up and dress-up will be done according to their assigned gender,
accentuating the stereotypes.
While the participants are getting ready MC will engage the audience.
MC will call two volunteers from the audience one male and one female. They will be
asked to read out a famous scene (between hero and heroine) from a bollywood film with
their gender reversed.
Musical duet by a girl with a violin and a boy singing.
Participants will be ready by the end of the previous performance.
Six chairs will be placed in the performance space.
Participants will be ready by now.
MC will ask them to sit in the chairs.
MC will hand out images of different sitting postures to the participants which they have to
copy.
Postures will be typical sitting postures associated with both the genders.
Each participant will get a posture opposite to the gender assigned to him.
MC will give them following individual tasks.
Male : Knitting, Crying and talking about how much he miss his mother, making a
birthday card.
Female Abusing (speaking a monologue from sakharam binder), weight lifting,
working with tools (assembling a chair and nailing it)
All the participants will start their tasks.
MC will call all the participants one by one and ask them to display their task.
Conclude the activity by thanking all the participants.

chairs, material for the tasks, images of sitting postures,

MC will open the floor for Discussion and Q&A session.


Time : 6:15 6:45 PM
Invite all the team members and mentors along with the participants on to the stage.
Discussion with the team members and the participants, chaired by the mentor.
Open the Q&A session

Conclude the event


Time : 6:45 6:55
MC will conclude the Q&A session.
MC will call the event coordinator to give vote of thanks.
MC will invite everybody for a dance session to conclude the event.
To celebrate the liberation of gender.
MC will close the event and ask everybody to disperse.

Majority of the audience is expected from the social science department and the feminist
group of the university.
Publicity will be focused towards them.
But other students and teaching staff will also be targeted for the success of the event.

Publicity Modes
Facebook page
A facebook campaign will be started where university students will be asked to post
their pictures.
In the picture they will be holding a placard.
Placard will contain a name of the subject, their gender and any one of their
behavior/trait/hobbie etc..
People will be encouraged to name a behavior of theirs which doesn't correspond to
their typical gender.
Or they can write any personal behavior to give the campaign a human touch.

The day prior to the event, all the team members will cross-dress.
