Day 5

God gave Noah specific directions to build an ark. If we were to

draw a picture of it, it might look something like a gigantic box
with a lid on it. There would be a door, a window, and a space near
the top for air.

It's amazing, but there's almost a similar box, but of a small

dimension, described in Exodus. It's the Ark of the Covenant. Can
you see a resemblance in these interpretations of what Scripture
says?
Read Exodus 25:10-22.

What is the Ark of the Covenant? Where is it located? What does it

do?

Read Leviticus 16:15-22. What else happens concerning the Ark of

the Covenant?

Can you see any parallels with the ark that Noah built? God's a
God of Salvation isn't he? He provides it on his terms repeatedly in
His Word. In the Hebrew, the words used to describe Noah's ark
and the Ark of the Covenant are two different words, but when
they are used in the New Testament, in Greek, the same word is
used. In Noah's day, the ark provided a way for the righteous to be
spared God's judgment. The Ark of the Covenant was also the
Mercy Seat. It was here between the cherubim that the high priest
would place the blood of a sacrifice on the Day of Atonement. On
this day when God looked down between the cherubim he would
see the blood and forgive those in covenant with Him.

I don't know about you, but I love discovering more of how God
reveals himself to us! So much means so much more in the Bible
than we really understand. Let's keep asking God to teach us!
