INTRODUCTION

Information is data that has been manipulated to be useful to someone. Information could
be about the consumers, products, competition, channels, promotions, pricing, sales volume,
value etc. that can be used by the marketing and other people within top management level for
planning of operations and decision making and control.
The students of Tarlac State University under BSBA MKM 3-1 were given a task to
conduct an interview about a companys Information System (IS) for further understanding the
flow of information inside /outside the business. The group 1 choose Chevrolet Tarlac to be the
subject .
On November 3, 1911, Swiss race car driver and automotive engineer Louis Chevrolet
co-founded the Chevrolet Motor Company in Detroit with William C. Durant.
Chevrolet Philippines is a Filipino owned company and the exclusive importer and
distributor of Chevrolet automobiles and parts in the Philippines. The company was officially
incorporated on July 1, 2009 and assumed business operations on October 1, 2009.19 dealerships
have been established around the country as of 2012.It is committed to deliver the best Chevrolet
products and services to our customers thereby cultivating trust and confidence in our brand
among our dealers and the public. Chevrolet Philippines management team is led by its current
President and Managing Director, Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla. With more than 20 years of
automotive experience, Atty. Arcilla has led the company to re-ignite the passion for Chevrolet in
the Philippines.
Chevrolet Tarlac is a franchisor of Chevrolet which started on February 21, 2014.
Chevrolet products are more expensive than other brands because there is no production area in
Philippines. Products are imported from Thailand, Korea, North America and Indonesia.

INFORMATION PROCESS
COLLECTION: acquiring and placing raw data.

Sales Consultants are in-charge of the delivery of product knowledge to the possible

customers and pursuing them to buy the products of the company.


General Retail Manager monitors the activities of sales of every sales consultant.
Technicians (3) have the knowledge about the features, specifications of the products and

maintenance of the cars.


When customers are really interested to buy the car, they would go to the CRO
(Customer Relation Officer) to know the advantages, terms of payments and benefits of
their chosen brand over the others.

PROCESSING: analyzing data to get meaning out of it.

Service Advisor and Parts Supervisor would help the customer to be familiarized with

the Equipment, gears, and maintenance of the car.


Sales Admin will summarize all the reports about the transactions happened within the

company.
Cashier money and payment is her scope.

STORAGE: keeping the information intact till it is needed.

Excel was their choice to input all the informations and everything associated with
Chevrolet.

USE: application of information for management decision making.

Review all the reports and decide what models should be added to the next order, if all
employees are doing their job well done, strategies that could possibly help the company
to gain profit and be known to customers at the same time.
Dealer Operator the one who transacts with other dealer operators and Chevrolet
Philippines.

Chevrolet uses ERP (Enterprise resource planning) is business management softwaretypically


a suite of integrated applicationsthat a company can use to collect, store, manage and interpret
data from many business activities, including:

Product planning, cost

Manufacturing or service delivery

Marketing and sales

Inventory management

Shipping and payment


ERP can be access by dealer operators and admins of different branches of Chevrolet.

PROBLEMS THEY ENCOUNTERED


1. Chevrolet Tarlac had its own database few years ago named Jupiter but because of

some circumstances.
System Analyst and its apprentice left the company
Too expensive for its maintenance.
2. Sales team- dealing with clients
3. Availability of units
Jupiter was never used again by the employees.
