Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the new school year! We will be teaching your childs
English class and are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable
school year. The following is information that will help your child be
successful in our class.
Course Description
This year we will be strengthening basic language and communication
skills with an emphasis on reading strategies, vocabulary development,
grammar, the writing process, the research process, and organization.

Assignments
Assignments are an opportunity to practice and apply what students
are learning in class. At the beginning of each rotation, students will
log into https://canvas.instructure.com (details below) which lists all of
the assignments for the rotation. All assignments must be completed in
order. One assignment must be completed each day in class. If
additional time or remediation is required, students are to utilize the
website from home. If a student needs access to a computer, resources
are available after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

All assignments will be completed through


https://canvas.instructure.com. (Works best with Firefox or Safari
web browsers.) You will receive an email at the address provided
with instructions to enroll in the course.
o When you log into https://canvas.instructure.com, click on
modules.
o Each rotations assignments will be labeled and dated.
o If you click on assignments, you will get a checklist of
assignments and due dates during that rotation.
o The materials needed to complete the assignments will be
located within the module.
o You will have 3 attempts to complete each online quiz.
o All writing assignments will be submitted through the
modules as well.

If there is a question or a concern about assignments, they need


to be addressed prior to the last day of the rotation. This
includes, but is not limited to, malfunction of computers/internet,
time constraints, confusion, etc. We can be contacted by email or
phone.

agenda book.
