Lesson Plan Integrating Technology
7th Grade Spanish Lesson:
Animals of the Rainforest
Standards:
NYS Standards: Student will be able to use another language other than English. Student will
develop cross cultural skills and understanding.
National Standards:
Communication Standard 1.1 and Standard 1.2
Culture: Standard 2.1
Connections: Standard 3.1

Lesson Objectives:
The student will be able to construct their own rainforest using paint. First by drawing a
new animal they have learned and then what else they would like to see. The student will be
able to evaluate their own understanding of the content by playing a game of Kahoot.
Introduce the Learning Activity:
I will introduce this lesson by having the students play the Kahoot game to refresh their
memories of animals and also to help them learn new animals. This exercise allows them to play
and game and allowing them a chance to show off their skills. This evaluates their previous
knowledge while showing them and myself what else needs to be reinforced.
Provide information:
Important information about the names of the animals will be provided to them through
the game and also reinforced when they create their animal.
Provide Practice:
Students will be given the opportunity to practice writing a sentence in Spanish and also
the name of the animal they have learned as well as informing their partner about their work.
They also will practice their vocabulary through the game. The game allows them to individually
check their understanding and provides them the chance to pick a nickname if they are shy
about the class seeing their results.
Provide Knowledge:
During the activities I will be walking around and checking in with the students to see
how they are doing. During the game I will be checking the results to see the areas where

further review is needed. If they are having trouble playing the game I will remember this for next
time and modify where needed. While they are drawing their animal I will check in and ask them
what they are drawing and check their comprehension. If the students are ahead of the class I
will encourage them to draw more on their paint picture. When they are finished and have
included their sentence I will ask them to either print a copy or email it to me so I can review it.
Review of the Activity:
After these activities have taken place I will ask if anyone would like to share what they
have drawn. I will ask the class to join us while we look at the image and use this as a time to
allow the students to display their work.
Method of Assessment:
Students will be assessed on labeling their animal correctly and how they are able to
complete the sentence prompt they are given. They will also be assessed on how well they were
able to stay on task during the activity.
Scoring Guide for rainforest picture :
Scale of 1-5
1- completed the minimum drawing with limited understanding of the task and the technology
being used
2- completed the minimum, while there was limited understanding made and effort and asked for
help
3- completed the activity, created sentence
4- completed the acidity, added more to drawing and completed sentence
5- completed the activity and added more to the drowning, created required sentence and
additional sentences
