Position Objective
Work with fellow educators to provide Kindergarten aged children with a high quality
Kindergarten program designed to meet the individual and group needs in accordance with
the National Quality Framework (NQF).
Key Responsibilities
Support, deliver and maintain a high quality program in accordance with the National Quality
Framework (NQF) inclusive of the Education and Care Services National Law Act, the
Education and Care Services National Regulations, the approved Early Learning Frameworks of
Australia, the National Quality Standards and Rating and Assessment.
To work in close partnership with the Kindergarten Teacher and co-educators to support,
prepare, implement and evaluate a high quality program that reflects the Service philosophy,
Kindergarten Team Culture plan, and Policies and Procedures of Wyndham City Councils
Kindergarten Service.
Assist the Teacher with completing documentation, observations, reflections and planning.
To stand in as the room leader in the absence of the Teacher.
Create a warm, welcoming, flexible and inclusive environment where supportive and
respectful partnerships with all families are paramount.
Support the participation of all children within a high quality Kindergarten program, inclusive
of children with additional needs.
Work in partnership with families to enable them to contribute to service decisions,
participation in the kindergarten community and actively contribute to their childs learning
and development in a meaningful way.
Develop strong relationships with families that provide support, guidance and information
that is easily accessible and reliable, and ensures connections with the local community as
required.
Maintain a professional workplace with colleagues, where open communication, respectful
debate and professional practice is promoted to continuously improve the program for the
benefit of children and their families.

Responsible under the Teachers guide for the planning and implementation of a play based
kindergarten program which has measurable outcomes and meets the requirements of the
NQF, including the Education and Care Services National Regulations, Education and Care
Services National Law Act, the Service Funding Agreement and the approved Early Years
Learning Framework/s of Australia.
Assist in the centre administration requirements for Wyndham City and DEECD.
Compliance with Local, State and Commonwealth guidelines and regulations.
Monitor and evaluate the kindergarten environment, both, indoors and outdoors to ensure
the safety, supervision and wellbeing of children, staff and other visitors.
Support the monitoring and evaluation of individual progress and development of children
and advise parents of concerns and provide information and support to parents, as required.
Support the delivery of individualised programs for children.
Guidance and advice is always available.
Understanding of the function of the position within organisational context, including relevant
policies, regulations and precedents.
Ability to develop and implement the requirements that meet the VEYLDF and the EYLF.
Ability to support the implementation and requirements of the NQF, inclusive of:
o
The approved Early Learning Frameworks of Australia.
o
The Education and Care Services National Law (National Law).
o
The Education and Care Services National Regulations (National Regulations).
o
The National Quality Framework and the 7 Quality Areas.
o
The National Quality Rating and assessment process.
o
DEECD Service.
o
The Australian Childrens Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).

specific and set objectives in the most efficient way within resources available and within a set
timetable.

individuals of various ages and cultures appropriately.
Ability to foster, undertake and encourage positive communication with team members and
the community.

Wyndham City Kindergarten Staff are appointed to the Service. Staff may be directed to
relocate to other locations as required by the Kindergarten Unit. Annual enrolment
fluctuations may necessitate relocation of positions. These positions will firstly be advertised
for Expressions of Interest from affected staff, and may involve a change of Centre and
alteration in hours of employment.
Wyndham City Kindergarten Staff are to attend out of hours meetings as required.
Wyndham City Kindergarten Staff are required to be available to work Saturdays if the service
requires in order to facilitate the implementation of Universal Access.
Employment is subject to the presentation of the right to work in Australia.
Hold a Diploma in Childrens Services with relevant experience in an early years setting.
Demonstrated ability in the delivery of high quality early years educational programs through
implementation of planning, documentation, reflection and collaborative practices.
Demonstrated experience as a room leader.
Thorough understanding and ability to implement the requirements of the VEYLDF and the
EYLF
Sound knowledge, understanding and ability in implementation of the NQF: inclusive of the
Education and Care Services National Law Act, the Education and Care Services National
Regulations, the approved Early Learning Frameworks of Australia, the National Quality
Standards and Rating and Assessment
Working with Children Check and current ACECQA approved Certificates:

First Aid Certificate (including CPR)
