Overview
This section focuses on the basic concepts of PDS Ortho Draw and the standard processing
procedures.
Extract View and Drawing Data - Extract detailed information regarding drawing and view
needed for creating the drawing from PDS DB(Oracle), and save them on PDS Ortho Draw
DB(MDB).
White Space Search - After the selected drawing is created, then design information of each
drawing is extracted, then only the information that is related to the current view’s volume is
selected with the use of Clip Boundary Logic and marked on the drawing to find the most adequate
space.
The White Space Search is performed only if the VHL processing has been performed on
the Drawing to be processed for automatic label and dimension generation.
Automatic Annotation & Dimension - Once the coordinates to be marked on the Drawing are
decided on, then begin the dimension and annotation process in the following order: Drawing Tag
> External Dimension > Internal Dimension > Internal Label > External Label.
View Drawing - Once the Drawing is created, go into the View Drawing menu to change the
location of the Annotation or to add new dimensions.
PDS Project No. - Select a project to create a drawing using PDS Ortho Draw.
Project Database - Click on the Login dialog box to open a database that holds all set
values of PDS Ortho Draw. A seed file named PDORTHO.mdb is used when producing new
projects, therefore PDORTHO.mdb must be copied into a new name (ProjectName).mdb for use.
The default location of the seed file is c:\win32app\ingr\PDORTHO\mdb.
Username - Enter the username. The default username is Admin.
Login Password - Enter the password for username. The initial password for Admin as a default
user is set to admin.
PD Schema Name - The PDS PD_Schema Name of the selected project is automatically
displayed.
DD Schema Name - The PDS DD_Schema Name of the selected project is automatically
displayed.
EE Schema Name - The PDS EE_Schema Name of the selected project is automatically
displayed.
PRJ Schema Name - The PDS PRJ_Schema Name of the selected project is automatically
displayed.
Login Module - Select the PDS Ortho Draw module to open. Select the Generator module if you
want to create or edit drawings. Select the Editor module if you just want to view drawings.

Environment
Selecting Setting > Environment or clicking on the will display the Environment Setting
dialog box and it will be classified into PDS Project Information and PDS Ortho Draw Environment
Settings.
The PDS Project Information will automatically set the value of the Project, thus the user does not
have to manually set the value.
The necessary path is set from the PDS Ortho Draw Environment Settings. Each path can be
tracked or entered by clicking on the button, and supports the UNC Path.
Design DDL File Path - Set the path where Design DDL File is located.
DDL File includes the Label Definition and the DB table and column information needed for setting
the column of each chart. Thus the DDL File used by each Project must be set.
EQP DDL File Path - Set the path where Equipment DDL File is located.
Pelican Forge MDB File Path - Set the path where Pelican Forge MDB File is located.
FrameWorks Plus Path - Set the path where FrameWorks Plus is located.
Original Drawing Path - Set the path where Original DGN File is located. When using copied
DGN instead of original DGN File for producing drawings, the Original Drawing Path must be set
and the checkbox must be checked. If this checkbox is not checked, then the path defined in the
PDS Database will be used during drawing production. If the set path does not exist within the
DGN File, then the drawing will not be produced.
Generated Drawing Path - Set the path where PDS Ortho Draw result file is saved. If the
checkbox is checked, then the DGN File will be copied from the set path of the Original Drawing
Path to the Generated Drawing Path for producing the drawing. If the checkbox is not checked,
then the drawing will be produced onto the DGN File of the set path of the Original Drawing Path.
It is recommended to set so that the drawing is not produced onto the original DGN File.
Drawing Report File Path - Set the path where Report Files are saved.
Cell Library File Path - Set the path of the Cell Library File used for PDS Ortho Draw. The
‘pdortho.cel’ file under the PDS Ortho Draw installation directory is provided. Thus it can be used
or altered for use.

Generation Setting
Selecting Setting > Generation Setting allows the user to set the On/Off of each item to be
produced for each Piping, HVAC, and Electrical classifications. The Label can be set for each
Plan, Section, and Iso, and the Accessory Data and Chart are both applied. The cautionary note is
to make sure to check that this Option Profile is identical to the Option Profile of the Drawing to be
generated by the user. If the settings do not match, then a completely unexpected result can be
generated.
When you place structural labels on Piping, HVAC, and Electrical, the sparse structural
model is attached to the drawing view or to the model in PDS. Also, the propagated model (PRP
file) is attached only for graphics; ortho extracts data for label placement from sparse (.DGN)
model.

User Deck Elevation displays the elevation with the deck included in the View Boundary out of the
Decks entered by the user into the User Define Deck Table as the standard. The lowest Elevation
out of the included Deck will become the Lower Deck, and the highest Deck will become the Upper
Deck. The Deck serving as the standard will be set according to the User Define Deck Style set by
the Expression Style.
If it is set as Near Deck, then the closest Deck out of Upper and Lower Decks will be automatically
selected. Display the system standard’s elevation and Outside of Deck if the elevation is located
under the Lower Deck after setting the Elevation located above the Upper Deck. If the Deck
included in the View Boundary does not exist, then an error message will be displayed, and if only
one of the Decks is included, then the elevation will be displayed as shown on the Elevation Style
box.
Elevation Expression Style - Select elevation style among TOP, COP, and BOP.
Elevation Description - Set Prefix and Suffix to be displayed in Elevation.
If the same condition as the picture above is given, then it will become (*PIPE* & ??EQUI*) |

Editor
This Chapter describes Editor that the user can edit the created drawing in PDS Ortho Draw.
Process View Drawing out of the drawing directory created by PDS Ortho Draw, to start PDS
Ortho Draw Editor on the drawing.. The displayed Editor is consisted of ten buttons as shown.
PD_ORTHO Smart Tag Edit - Moves tag, label, and internal dimension which were created
in PDS Ortho Draw.
It is different from Move because it does not move the point that the lead line points.
PD_ORTHO Change Direction - Moves a tag and label from a horizontal orientation to a
vertical orientation.
Fence Stretch - Move the internal drawing of the Fence Block. The external lines connected
are extended.
PD_ORTHO Axis Lock - On/Off Axis Lock. If it is on, it can be moved only from up to down,
or from left to right.
PD_ORTHO Group Lock - On/Off Graphic Group Lock. If it is on, it is applied to the same
graphic group when using Edit function such as Move, Copy, Rotate, and Scale.
PD_ORTHO Reference file View - Opens the directory window of reference files.
Move - Moves the selected element. Unlike in Smart Tag, Lead Line Point can also be
moved.
PD_ORTHO Rotate - Rotate the selected element at the angle set by the user.
Click on the button, and select dimension to be the standard of alignment. If the user selects
vertical dimension, the standard dimension should be vertical dimension while the user selects
horizontal dimension, the standard should be horizontal dimension. Click once more to identify it
after selecting the standard dimension. After selecting dimension to be aligned, click again to
move the selected dimension. The user can click Dimension Align Initialize button to select an
another dimension to be the standard. If it is used as Smart Tag Edit, it can be efficiently edited.
PD_ORTHO Dimension Align Initialize - Initializes Dimension Align, and sets the standard
dimension.
