Sculpture is the branch of the visual arts that operates in three dimensions.

It is one of the plastic

arts. Durable sculptural processes originally used carving (the removal of material) and modelling
(the addition of material, as clay), in stone, metal, ceramics, wood and other materials but,
since modernism, shifts in sculptural process led to an almost complete freedom of materials and
process. A wide variety of materials may be worked by removal such as carving, assembled
by welding or modelling, or molded, or cast.
Sculpture in stone survives far better than works of art in perishable materials, and often
represents the majority of the surviving works (other than pottery) from ancient cultures, though
conversely traditions of sculpture in wood may have vanished almost entirely. However, most
ancient sculpture was brightly painted, and this has been lost.
Sculpture has been central in religious devotion in many cultures, and until recent centuries large
sculptures, too expensive for private individuals to create, were usually an expression of religion
or politics. Those cultures whose sculptures have survived in quantities include the cultures of the
Ancient Mediterranean, India and China, as well as many in South America and Africa.
The Statue of Liberty is in the middle of New York Harbor, in Manhattan, New York City. The
statue, designed by Frdric Auguste Bartholdi, a French sculptor and dedicated on October 28,
1886, was a gift to the United States from the people of France. The statue is of a robed female
figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula
ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of
Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and
of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.
Bartholdi was inspired by French law professor and politician douard Ren de Laboulaye, who
is said to have commented in 1865 that any monument raised to American independence would
properly be a joint project of the French and American peoples. He may have been minded to
honor the Union victory in the American Civil War and the end of slavery. Due to the
troubled political situation in France, work on the statue did not commence until the early 1870s.
In 1875, Laboulaye proposed that the French finance the statue and the Americans provide the
site and build the pedestal. Bartholdi completed the head and the torch-bearing arm before the
statue was fully designed, and these pieces were exhibited for publicity at international
expositions.
Here, nearby Novi Travnik, we have some kind of sculptures. People called it Stone wedding.
The legend says that a long time ago, there should be a big wedding. From some reason, all of
guests that were on wedding became stones. So, according to that legend people made
sculptures and called it stone wedding.

As everywhere in the world, also here in Bosnia, young people are training kung
fu. As we know Bruce Lee is the king of kung fu so he became a cult hero and
thousands of kids started practicing his moves. One of the cities from Bosnia and
Herzegovina that most likes the Bruce Lee is Mostar. After war, Mostar still stays
divided. The Bosniak Muslim population inhabits the eastern side of the Neretva
River, while the west bank remains almost exclusively Croat. The love and memory of
Bruce Lee, however, is one of the rare things that still unite all its people. To
commemorate this, the people erected the world's first statue of martial arts legend
and philosopher Bruce Lee.

Sculpture is very important part of the life. Some people says that art is a food for
soul, and a sculpture is one branch of art. So, at the end, I want to repeat the
word of William Shatner : You have to create your life. You have to carve it, like a sculpture. 1
