TheDevonshireQuarterislocatedinthecenterofSheffield,England,inatraditionallyindustrialand
residentialneighborhood.AfterWWIIthe demolitionofderelictbuildingsleadtoaseriesofdisjointed
developmentsduringtheearly1980sthatcreatedtheopportunitytoreinventthedistrict.Recent
developmentsaremixeduseandmuchmoreurbaninnature.Housingcomponentsachievedensitiesofup
to180dwellingunitsperacre.Asaresult,DevonshireStreetisnowknownforitsindependentshopsand
varietyofpubsandbarsthathaveenergizedtheQuarterasanalternative,hipurbanvillage.Theareahasa
populationofover1,000andisexpectedtogrowtomorethan5,000.Significantpublicrealm
improvementsstrengthentheconnectionbetweentheQuarterandtheSheffieldcitycenter.
