Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Nov 2: Veteran scholar, Bannanje Govindacharya, said that the story about Kanakadasa,

who was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, and author of hundreds of devotional songs

dedicated to Lord Keshava of Kaginele, having been denied entry to Srikrishna Mutt here, was
baseless. He was delivering the keynote address at the 'Kanaka Jayanti' celebrations, being held

under the aegis of Srikrishna Mutt, Kannada and culture department, district administration and
Kanakadasa Study Research Centre, M G M College and Manipal Academy of General Education,
which were initiated on Sunday November 1 at Rajangana here.

Govindacharya said that Sri Vadiraja wielded enormous influence at the time and had provided
residential accommodation to Kanakadasa in front of the shrine of Lord Srikrishna. This was the

spot where a shrine of Kanakadasa stands now. The story which says that Sri Vyasaraja refused
to admit Kanakadasa inside the temple even after Sri Vadiraja accepted him, is false. Even the
university professors have been teaching false stories about Kanakadasa, he stressed.

Bannanje said that he had been to Kaginele and Bada to study about Kanakadasa, and found that

there was nothing on record, relating to Kanakadasa. While the temple of Lord Keshava at
Kaginele is not being managed properly, the idols of Lord Hanuma, Bheema and Madhwa are
being worshipped on a daily basis at Kadaramandalagi Lord Anjaneya temple, where
Kanakadasa offered prayers, he explained. He also pointed out that in a devotional song by

Kanakadasa, the poet said that when he was conversing with Lord Keshava, Vadiraja entered te
scene, upon which, Lord Keshava instantly disappeared.

Bannanje also said that the procedure of offering Roti and gruel to the Lord every day, had been
started by Vadiraja in memory of Kanakadasa. As per a record in the Mutt, a wall in the Mutt

had developed cracks during night on a day, because of earthquake. Kanakadasa paid respects
to Lord Srikrishna and as such, this crack is both created by nature and a miracle. In reverence

to Kanakadasa, even now the Paryaya Swamijis get the first darshan of the Lord through this
crack, known as Kanakana Kindi, he said.

The celebrations were inaugurated by Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Mutt.

Dignitaries like Sri Raghumanyateertha of Bheemanakatte Mutt, district deputy commissioner P

Hemalata, music guru Neelavar Lakshminarayanaiah and district president of Kurubara Sangha,
Sadanand Kaup, were present on the occasion.

Without knowing the background we should open your mouth. What you know about Bannanje.
First of all do you have a style to talk about Bannanje Style.

Bannanje is an un-comparable un-imaginable personality of Wisdom. You should be qualified to

understand his wisdom.
I am sorry if I am rude. But its fact. Please excuse.

It is sure not without research that Dr. Bannanje will put it that way. He sure has reasons. And dasas
do not sing the "Loukik" aspect of opening the doors anyways. If that were it, dasas would not be
called dasas. The song "Baagilanu teredu seveyanu kodo Hariye, Narahariye" it self shows it. What
does "SEVAYANU KODU" mean in literal kannada? It will mean "Krishna give me SEVA" than meaning
"Krishan, allow me to do the SEVA". Literal x = x mean nothing and it only requires a person of
scholarly nature to comment on these things. The very fact that ROTI and GRUEL is being offered to
Shri Krishna is itself enough to see how much respect KANAKA DASARU gets. Dalits being deined
entry is a sheer shit as anyone can go into Shri Krishna Temple. However, even ppl of higher cast do
not get entry into the Sanctum Sanctorum. The same way as any person being denied entry into
high profile minister's house or a masjid or a church. What Mr. Bannanje will say is best left to his
judgement than anybody else.

Kanakadasa sang "Baagilanu teredu seveyanu kodo Hariye, Narahariye". Its really so sad that such
an amazing miracle of the Lord having opened the gates of his home to his ardent devotee of a so
called lower caste, is being denied. The very lesson that the Lord wanted us to learn from this
miracle, is now being denied. Jai Shri Krishna

We dont need such trivial " miracles" to believe God. The proof of his miracles are every where in
this universe and the cosmic order we witness every day, every moment

It is a grand old techneque of Dwijas of telling lies.Even in the present day the daliths are not given
entry into the temples. The upper caste people do not eat with the lower caste people.During Kanaka
dasa time Caste discrimination was at its worst.Mr Bannanje knows very well that a lie told again and
again will be accepted as truth.Chidanand murthy is another self styled historian like Bannanje.Next
time Bannanje will say that kanaka dasa did not write or praise lord Krishna.

Its very sad to know that people refuse to open eyes even if a great personality like Dr Bananje is
making a point.!! I pity those ..Fair enough and i feel it needs no extra attention..

What surprises me is -How is that we are so good in understanding and interpreting things at the
level we are at !! Now i understand if our Sanatana Dharma has taken a bad hit - its not because of
anyone but ourselves .. God save our country !!
