The importance of Reading

I personally think that reading is a very important activity in our live. Why do I say do?
Firstly, By reading we can get a lot of knowledge about many things in the world such as science, technology,
sports, arts, culture, religius, etc. Written in either books, magazine, newspaper, etc
Seccondaly by reading we can get a lot of news and information about something happening in any part of the
world which can see directly
Another reason, reading can give us pleasure too. When we are tired, we read books,newspaper or magazine on
the entertainment /zS> such as comedy, short story, quiz,etc. To make us relaxed
The last, reading can also take us to other parts of the world. By reading a book about Irian Jaya we may feel
were really sitting in the jungle not at home in our rooms
From the facts about, its abvious that everyone needs to read to get knowledge, information and also
entertainment. Or summary we can say reading is truly important in our life
Television becomes one of the most important devices which takes place in almost houses. It can unite all
members of the family as well as separate them. However, is it important to know what your kids are watching?
The answer is, of course, absolutely "Yes" and that should be done by all parents. Television can expose things
you have tried to protect the children from, especially violence, pornography, consumerism and so on.
Recently, a study demonstrated that spending too much time on watching TV during the day or at bedtime often
cause bed-time disruption, stress, and short sleep duration.
Another research found that there is a significant relationship between the amount of time spent for watching
television during adolescence and early adulthood, and the possibility of being aggressive.
Meanwhile, many studies have identified a relationship between kids who watch TV a lot and being inactive and
overweight.
Considering some facts mentioning above, protect your children with the following tips:
- Limit television viewing to one-two hours each day
- Do not allow your children to have a TV set in their own bedrooms
- Review the rating of TV shows which your children watch
- Watch television with your children and discuss what is happening in the show

Why is Learning English Important?

Language is the mean of communication. Mostly groups of society have their own languages. Some of them
appear the top global languages. Most people in the world hear about English, Arabic, and Mandarin. However
English is the most global spoken language. Then if a man wants to catch a global goal, he has to master
English.
Everyone recognize that English is an international language. English is used in writing and speaking by many
people all over the world. It can be either as a first or second language. We even hear British, American,
Australian, and even Singaporean English. Those various names of English are used as the first language in
those countries. Futhermore, some countries have their own languages as a mother language but also use
English mostly in daily comunication.
Besides usage in daily interaction, English is also used as a key to open doors leading to scientific and technical
knowledge. No wonder we find manual guides and instructions of many devices written in English. Even if we
have a pack of instant noodle, we will see the cooking instruction also written in English. This transfer of
science and technic will include many countries in economic, social and politics developement.
Finaly, the most easily seen in the importance of learning English is that most top requirement in filling job
opportunities is the ability using English; active or passive. Job applicants who master English are more
favourable than ones who do not.
The above facts prove that everybody needs to learn English if he likes to greet the global era.

National exam becomes the hot topic in most of discussions. Though the Supreme Court has rejected an appeal
by the go-vernment on the organization of the national exams, the controversy over whether it is necessary to
maintain the national exams (UN) has continued. Some debates include the primary questions such as; does the
quality of Indonesia education depend on the national exam?, will the quality of the Indonesian education
system worsen without natipnal exam?
People, who support the national exam explain that the quality of the Indonesia education system will drop
without the national exam, so they try to defend the current system.
Hoever there are people who disagree with the opinion. Those who against this national exam kept in our high
school education say that it doesn't need the national exams because the quality of education does not just
depend on the national exam. Further, the national exam only measures a small portion of students' competence
in specific subjects, and does not measure students' competences throughout the semester.
In fact, the national examination can still be useful as an instrument to evaluate or detect the level of students'
cognitive competence in several subjects, on a national scale.

Marriage in Lombok
Young Sasak couples have a choice of different ways of getting married. The first is an arranged marriage. The
parents of the man arrange that he will marry a particular girl. Another way is to marry a cousin. Both of these

At the end of the nineteenth century, newspapers were the main pubic sources of information. At the end of the
twentieth century, we still have newspapers, but they are no longer the main sources of information. Nowadays,
we have the electronic media: the internet, radio, and television.
The electronic media link Indonesia to the rest of the world. The electronic media makes us part of the global
village. If we want to find out what is happening in Europe or the United States, we can listen to satellite TV
stations, such as, the BBC or CNN. We can find out what normal people in many countries think by going on the
internet. There we can talk in English to people from all over the world.
In the twenty-first century, the internet will be the most important source of information. Even now there is so

much information on the internet. Soon people will not buy newspapers from kiosk anymore. They will read
electronic newspapers on the internet. All television channels will be on the internet. If you get tired of watching
TVRI, you will be able to switch to a New York channel or a channel from South Africa or Egypt.
