ALL APPLICANTS MUST COMPLY WITH THE DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE CATEGORY OF VISA THEY ARE APPLYING FOR,
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, AND ALTERNATIVE DOCUMENTATION OTHER THAN THAT WHICH IS
STATED ON THE WEBSITE WILL ALSO NOT BE ACCEPTED.
The Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents. The application form can only be processed after complete
submission of all documents requested by the Embassy.
A. Documentation relating to the applicant
Original, current and signed passport containing a valid permanent, temporary or bridging visa as well as visa for country exited
to after the stay in the Schengen-region (if applicable). This passport must have required validity from your application lodgement
date [for visa type C and A six months and for visa Type D nine months] as well as 2 spare visa pages to affix the Visa. The
passport cannot be older than 10 years.
To prove your visa status in Australia, use the VEVO email service provided by the Australian Department of Immigration and
Citizenship (http://www.immi.gov.au). Select Check work or visa entitlements (VEVO) under online services, click on Check
your own visa details with VEVO and have a verification email sent to info.ausau@vfshelpline.com. [The email has to be sent on
the day of your appointment with VFS Global. Applications without VEVO confirmation cannot be accepted. (Not applicable for
citizens of Australia and New Zealand)]. Your VEVO statement MUST show that you are entitled to multiple entries to and from
Australia during the validity of your visa and must be permitted to arrive after the date of your return to Australia following
your proposed travel to the Schengen Area. The Australian visa must be valid for a minimum of three (3) months from the
departure date from the Schengen Area.
Previous passport
Copies of previous Schengen Visas from the last three years
One visa application form completed per person in black or blue ink, signed on page 2 and page 3. Signatures must correspond
with the signatures in the passport.
One recent passport size photo according to ICAO standards. Photos can be taken at Australia Post Offices.
Confirmation letter for submission of documents. This needs to be done online at www.vfsglobal.com/austria/australia
Complete this step first if you have not done so.
B. Documentation relating to the purpose of the journey
Business:
Signed invitation letter from a firm or authority in the country of destination for the purpose of visit
Original letter from your employer stating designation, date of employment, salary, period of stay, purpose of visit, stating full
responsibility for employees expenses during the trip and his/her return stamped and signed by the General Manager (name
should also be printed)
If your trip is sponsored by the company in the country of destination: Formal obligation
for Austria: Electronic Guarantee (Elektronische Verpflichtungserklrung-EVE)
Other documents proving existence of trade relations or business
Entry tickets for fairs and congresses if appropriate
Documents proving the business activities of the company
Documents proving the applicants employment status in the company
Study:
Confirmation of enrolment and participation in the student exchange issued by your Australian university or school.
Acceptance letter from the university or school in your country of destination
Vocational training in Austria: AMS-Anmeldebesttigung (www.ams.at )

Tourism:
Documents relating to your accommodation
Confirmed hotel reservation OR invitation letter, copy of passport and registration of residency (Meldezettel if host is from
Austria OR Meldebestatigung if host is from Germany) of your host. . Only hotel bookings which are partially or completely prepaid can be accepted.
If staying with a private host in Austria: Electronic Guarantee (Elektronische Verpflichtungserklrung EVE)
If sponsored by a private sponsor in Germany: Original Verpflichtungserklrung (a paper document provided by the local
authorities).
Documents relating to your itinerary
If applying for an Airport Transit Visa- Type A, provide proof of the visa or entry permit for the third country of destination
and copy of tickets for onward journey.
Medical:
Official document from the medical institution confirming the need for medical care
Proof of scheduled treatment in country of destination
Proof of sufficient means to pay for the medical treatment
Events:[ political, cultural, sport, religious, other events]
Official and signed event invitation and proof of event tickets
Program stating the name of the host organization and duration of the event
Work (for a maximum of six month):
Copy of employment contract for the proposed work in Austria
Notification from Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS Anmeldebestaetigung) or exemption this has to be obtained by
the employer

C. Documents relating to your itinerary
Transport documentation: Flight reservation, train tickets.
If you are travelling to more than one Schengen country during your stay please provide means of transportation to the
countries
D. Documentation allowing for the assessment of the applicants intention to leave the Schengen territory
Proof of present student status: Certificate of enrolment issued by the university or school and evidence of payment of tuition
fees or scholarship
Proof of employment: Recent payslips and confirmation of employment indicating :
Status of employment and amount of monthly salary
Assurance that the applicant is still working for the company after the holiday or business trip as well as the travel-date;
If self-employed: trade/business license, tax assessment
Proof of real estate property
Proof of integration into the country of residence: family ties: professional status
E. Documentation in relation to the applicants family status
Proof of family ties with the host/inviting person
Proof of family ties in Australia

Last 3 months bank statements of the parents

F. Other Documentation Mandatory for all Applicants regardless the purpose of travel
Proof of travel insurance with a minimum cover of EUR 30,000. [The travel insurance must cover the cost of repatriation for
medical reasons, urgent medical treatment or hospitalization or costs incurred in the event of your death while in the Schengen
area. Validity must be throughout all Schengen countries and for the entire duration of your stay. Certificate of Currency must be
issued by an Insurance company operating in Australia or within the EU.]
Confirmed itinerary for your trip detailing travel plan along with reservation of return or round trip ticket. Under certain
circumstances the Embassy reserves the right to ask for prepaid tickets
Proof of accommodation for entire stay in the Schengen Region (refer to Documents relating to your accommodation under
Tourism). Only bookings which are partially or completely pre-paid can be accepted.
Proof of financial means in the country of residence; bank statements in original for last 3 months
Visa handling fee
Services fee for lodging application with VFS AUSTRALIA
Express Post A4 500g Platinum Prepaid Envelope self-addressed for returning your processed application
Important Notes
The application may not be lodged earlier than 3 months before the start of intended travel
Submitting the above documents does not guarantee a visa. The consular officer may request a personal interview or further
documentation to justify the case.
Once an application is accepted for processing, a stamp indicating the acceptance date and embassy seal will be placed in the
passport irrespective whether the visa is issued or not.
Original documents that are clearly labelled as ORIGINAL can be returned if a copy of the document is submitted in addition.
Bank statements will not be returned.

will be entered into, and stored in the Visa Information System (VIS) for a maximum period of five years, during which it will be
accessible to the visa authorities and the authorities competent for carrying out checks on visas at external borders and within the Member
States, immigration and asylum authorities in the Member States for the purposes of verifying whether the conditions for the legal entry
into, stay and residence on the territory of the Member States are fulfilled, of identifying persons who do not or who no longer fulfil these
conditions, of examining an asylum application and of determining responsibility for such examination. Under certain conditions the data
will be also available to designated authorities of the Member States and to Europol for the purpose of the prevention, detection and
investigation of terrorist offences and of other serious criminal offences. The authority of the Member State responsible for processing the

I am aware that I have the right to obtain in any of the Member States notification of the data relating to me recorded in the VIS and of the
Member State which transmitted the data, and to request that data relating to me which are inaccurate be corrected and that data relating to
me processed unlawfully be deleted. At my express request, the authority examining my application will inform me of the manner in
which I may exercise my right to check the personal data concerning me and have them corrected or deleted, including the related
remedies according to the national law of the State concerned. The national supervisory authority of that Member State [ www.dsk.gv.at ]
will hear claim sconcerning the protection of personal data.

will lead to my application being rejected or to the annulment of a visa already granted and may also render me liable to prosecution under

visa is only one of the prerequisites for entry into the European territory of the Member States.
The mere fact that a visa has been granted to me does not mean that I will be entitled to compensation if I fail to comply with the relevant
provisions of Article 5(1) of Regulation (EC) No 562/2006 (Schengen Borders Code) and I am therefore refused entry. The prerequisites
for entry will be checked again on entry into the European territory of the Member States.
