Electricity is one of the most hazardous types of energy that a man handles. There are lots
of things that should consider, study, and practice for us to be able to manage a work with the
presence of and electricity. One must be professional enough to be considered a worker handling
a high-voltage equipments or electric-type of machine. Since we were just young ones, we were
already able to know the danger or the hazard that brought by an electricity; we knew that
electric sockets contains high-voltage electricity, therefore from that time we knew, at least, how
to cope up with appliances, electronics and equipments found around our home. Our world is
obviously being ran by technology, a non-stop progress of improving and innovating
technologies, young ones and adults know how to deal with such things and in that case we can
say that people nowadays are knowledgeable enough to know the basics in keeping safe around
electricity.
The word basic from the title itself, Basic Electrical Safety literally means that its just
easy to understand, and to apply, therefore one must follow and respect the terms and conditions
and rules and regulations being implemented by the safety officers and especially our
government which whom has the highest concern about the safety of each and every employees
and workers handling or care around the electricity or hazardous area in which in worst cases can
cause death.
The reporter have discussed some disciplines, basics, terminologies, symbols and
pictures, fundamentals and Dos and Donts with regards to the implementation of safety
management of the company about electricity.
Do plug power equipment into wall
receptacles with power switches in the Off
position.

Do unplug electrical equipment by grasping


the plug and pulling. Do not pull or jerk the
cord to unplug the equipment.
Do not drape power cords over hot pipes,
radiators or sharp
Do check the receptacle for missing or
damaged parts.
Do not plug equipment into defective
receptacles.
Do check for frayed, cracked, or
exposed wiring on equipment cords.cts. Do check for defective cords clamps at
locations where the power cord enters
the equipment or the attachment plug.
Extension cords should not be used in
office areas. Generally, extension cords
should be limited to use by maintenance
personnel
Cheater plugs, extension cords with
junction box receptacle ends or other
jury-rigged equipment should not be
used.
Consumer electrical equipment or
appliances should not be used if not
properly grounded. (Look for the UL
Label) Employees should know the location of
electrical circuit breaker panels that
control equipment and lighting in their
respective areas. Circuits and
equipment disconnects must be
identified
Temporary or permanent storage of any
materials must not be allowed within 3
feet of any electrical panel or electrical
equipment.

Any electrical equipment causing


shocks or with high leakage potential
must be tagged with a Danger tag or
equivalent.
