Dear Mr./Ms.,
Attention: Human Resource Department of ALFABET PROGRAMME
Re: Motivational and appealing letter for mobility programme under ALFABET.
I write to you with reference to the above. I was graduated in Bachelor of Science Oleochemical
(Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. I have finished my final semester of bachelor
study in June 2013 and would like to apply for mobility spot under Erasmus mundus scholarship
2016. Furthermore, I am expected to graduate in Master Degree in Chemistry (Hons) majoring
polymer and advanced materials thisend of year and I want to take this golden opportunity to
make an attachment to the universities that I had choosen.
I believe that I am well-suited not only based on my chemistry background, but also due to my
keen interest in material, engineering, chemical sciences and environmental fields which lies as
my electives. As a graduate in chemistry and enginering based, I have acquainted myself with a
range of skills that would allow me to blend with the organizational culture, handling complex
labworks, manage to invent new research prospects and propel the team to a greater height of
success.
My route for succeeding in my education journeys is not an easy. According to the most of the
requirement for getting the scholars, I have to achieve at least 3.00 CGPA or second class upper
for my first Degree. Unfortunately, I have achieved 2.82 for my first degree in UKM and so I
was failed to further the process of application.
Looking on the bright side of things, I eagerly and passionately want to be an academician who
can lend his bowl of knowledge and expertise towards the betterment of education in Malaysia.

As Sir/Madam may have noticed my poor CGPA achievement for my first Degree, in which the
mistake was purely mine, but that does not stop me from keeping on learning and acquiring
higher knowledge by pursuing my Masters degree. My intention on pursuing MSc. and PhD is
not merely about amending my past but mostly because of my infinite interest in scientific
research and passion to become a great academician. It has been a tough academic journey for
me to be where I am today. I have always been up to challenges and giving up is not something
that I uphold. I hope that my journey will not end here just because in order to apply for the
scholarship, my first degree CGPA has to be 3.00 and above.
Dear Sir/Madam, personally, this seems unfair for a person like me who has an undivided
passion for education. We all deserve an opportunity to strive the best for our aspirations. How
can one be sure that a high CGPA is a concrete benchmark in producing brilliant and competent
academician? As Sir/Madam may have experienced, we have regained so much in improving
ourselves by pursuing postgraduate studies. I believe everyone would understand the feeling
when you tried your hardest to fix your grades in Degree by pursuing Masters Degree and
graduated with flying colours but then all your passions are destroyed because you cannot get
any scholarships to pursue PhD. All due to the fact that the requirement to apply for scholarship
is 3.00 CGPA in first Degree. The dejection is beyond words. Some people could afford to get to
where they want to go, where they want to study, which university they want to go because they
are fortunate to have funds to support their studies. In contrast to my background, you could
kindly refer to my application on what kind of family I am born with. My father, a taxi driver and
my mother, a clinic assistant and would you think that my parents could afford the university
fees or perhaps if they want to do so, give me all their income and humble savings? Even so, I
rather said no because that is the only source for them to support my familys forthcoming life.
I want to make them proud. I want to give them shelter and a better life in the future. I would
give everything I have to fight for this scholarship. I know you also have a son or daughter who
is living their dreams. I think this is the only chance I have to make my dreams come true. This
appeal letter is the only ray of hope of mine. It would be a great disappointment for me to not be
given an opportunity because I truly want this scholarship. This appeal is also written to seek a
second chance from Sir/Madam. The least I could hope from Sir/Madam is to give me a chance

for an interview and for an opportunity to prove that I am worthy of this scholarship why you
should consider my application and why you should give me the chance to further my studies.
Regardless of the decision which is to be made by Sir/Madam, I believe that it is His will and I
really hope that Sir/Madam will consider my appeal to have my application be accepted by your
behalf. Thank you for consideration and I really appreciate your time reading this humble appeal.
May you be granted the best
Together with this cover letter, I attached my resume for your consideration. I look forward to
