INSTALLATION PREPARATION STEP INFUSION

PREPARATION
1. Health workers
Wash your hands: to prevent nosocomial infections following proper hand washing
examples:

Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)


- Gloves
- Mask
- Glasses google (for a particular patient) to protect the eyes officer

2. Patients
Problems in patients:
- Fear, anxiety
- Tense-step
Measures to encourage patients to cooperate:
a. Show an attitude of confidence
b. Greet the patient by name
c. Introduce yourself
d. Validation identification of such patients
e. Explain the procedure in a manner that is easily understood by patients /
families
f. Involve parents (especially in children and infants)

3. Tools and environment


a. Tools for infusion in general, namely:
- Intravenous fluids

alcohol swab

10.Pegang hands / wrists of patients with left hand while fixation vein, place your
thumb over the vein to prevent movement and to stretch the skin against pricking
direction.
11.Stab vein with the needle bevel facing upwards (with angle of 30-40 degrees),
the direction of the flow of venous puncture catheter (visible blood will fill venous
catheter tube).

12. The right hand pressing / holding the IV needle, left hand push the catheter to
the catheter entry all.

13. Remove the needle infusion catheter and a relationship with the infusion set
that has been prepared.
14. Remove torniquet
15. Flush intravenous fluids, check smoothly / not, is there any sign of swelling 16.
Fixation, set the droplet according to the instructions and set the infusion bottle
height 85 cm from the patient's heart.

Documentation and Evaluation


The date and time of replacement of IV lines, write down all the extra hose
The date, time and content of intravenous fluids

infusion flow rate, including changes to the next speed


Electronic equipment used to regulate the flow
Assessment of stabbing a regular infusion
Complications and actions taken to correct the problem backing
The time when infusion therapy is stopped and if the catheter is intact when
removed
Observe the condition of catheters 2 times per shift (for adults) and every hour for
children
