1.1 Curriculum Planning and Implementation


1.1.1 State the vision, mission and objectives of the institution, and describe how these are
communicated to the students, teachers, staff and other stakeholders.

Process of academic programmes towards attainment of vision and mission:


All the academic programmes of the under academic institution have implemented the Outcome
Based Education (OBE) and defined Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) which are
achievable and consistent with the vision and mission of the institution. Curriculum design for
every course includes defining of Program Outcomes (PO) in line with PEOs and Course
Outcomes (Co) are formulated to cover the POs.
Towards assessment and continuous improvement, the surveys of the various stakeholders are
done at regular intervals with questionaire designed separately for each group. The responses are
analyzed, level of attainment of PEOs established, and the PEOs are redefined/modified
appropriately with approval from Academic council and Governing council.
Laboratory demonstrations, student projects, seminars, awareness talks, expert lectures from
national and international industry / R&D personnel, industrial visits, etc are conducted on a
regular basis to encourage students to familiarize current trends in technology and research,
develop self-learning.

1.1.2 How does the institution develop and deploy action plans for effective implementation
of the curriculum? Give details of the process and substantiate through specific example(s).

The institution directs all the departments and staff members to prepare lesson plan for
each subject and to follow accordingly.

The records of class work to be maintained by the staff members and it is monitored by
the Head of the Department.

Each faculty member has to prepare the study material and notes of lesson which will be
distributed to the students for their academic preparation.

Assignments given to the students based on their syllabus which motivates the students
to refer university prescribed and reference books & internet facilities are provided to
the students to acquire knowledge.

To Access Digital Library and RFID Systems in the Campus.

Three Internal Assessment Tests and University Examinations are conducted for each
semester for the students which will make the students to assess their level for the
examinations.

Feedback is collected from the students, to know about the quality of teaching and the
necessary actions are taken to correct it.

Teachers are encouraged to formulate innovative practices and are made to present them
for discussion during Departmental meetings.

Special focus is given to the differently abled students. The corollaries like IT club work
in tandem for the same.

1.1.3 What type of support (procedural and practical) do the teachers receive (from the
University and/or institution) for effectively translating the curriculum and improving
teaching practices?
The college is affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The university provides
the entire course syllabus, text books and reference books detail, question paper pattern, list of
practical experiments / titles / programs etc., which enables the teacher to follow the curriculum for
each semester.
Whenever there is any change in the curriculum design, the university sends the details to its
affiliated colleges.
As per the university, choices will be given for the students for choosing the elective subjects on
major elective courses in only higher semesters.

Periodical orientation programmes and workshops are organized by the University for the Board
of Studies and the Academic Council of the University convene periodical workshops where the
fine tuning of the curriculum is carried out considering the feedback from faculty and
stakeholders.
Invited talks by doyens of various disciplines are arranged in the institution in addition to
seminars for the benefit of the teachers as well as the students.
1.1.4 Specify the initiatives taken up or contribution made by the institution for effective
curriculum delivery and transaction on the Curriculum provided by the affiliating
University or other statutory agency.
The outcome of teachers deliberations in the department level meetings for discussing the
efficacy of curriculum transaction is communicated to the Board of studies, Academic Council.
The faculty members attend the workshops arranged by the University for Curriculum updating
and restructuring.

1.1.5 How does the institution network and interact with beneficiaries such as industry,
research bodies and the university in effective operationalisation of the curriculum?

The institution motivates the departments to take the students to industrial visit which relates their
subject (Automation Industries,Process Control Instrumentation , Data Converter and solar Energy
Generation Food Processing Industries, sugar factories, and ISRO etc.,) as a part of the curriculum
which helps the students to gain practical knowledge in their field of study. The institution had signed
MOUs with Prolifics, Advanced Electronics Systems and Yokogawa.

1.1.6 What are the contributions of the institution and/or its staff members to the
development of the curriculum by the University?(number of staff members/departments
represented on the Board of Studies, student feedback, teacher feedback, stakeholder
feedback provided, specific suggestions etc.

The institution follows the curriculum framed by VTU.

Yes. The institution is Self financing and is a part of MGVP Educational Trust. The institution
provides course fee structure for each course and addresses the needs of the Trust by offering
academic programmes at the rates fixed by the governments (not collecting capitation). Student
admissions are made Government Norms-wise to keep parity with the needs of the Trust.
The merit concession, employee concession and other concessions are given to the students on their
course fees at the time of admission.
The institution has appointed well qualified, experienced faculty members who possess with good
subject knowledge. The salary is not a constraint, only the knowledge and quality aspects qualify the
faculty members for an appointment with good salary which is pertinent to the AICTE norms.

1.2.5 Does the college provide additional skill oriented programmes, relevant to regional
and global employment markets? If yes provide details of such programme and the
beneficiaries.

1.3 Curriculum Enrichment


1.3.1 Describe the efforts made by the institution to supplement the Universitys
Curriculum to ensure that the academic programmes and Institutions goals
and objectives are integrated?

In order to make the students highly capable for the current needs of the competitive jobs,
the University curriculum shall be reviewed regularly.
The academic council meeting will be held at least once in a year regarding the latest
syllabus of all programmes.
Keeping in view on the vision and mission of the institute and department, the syllabus,
academic calendar, continuous internal evaluation and semester end examination are
followed.
The institute has a strong placement and training division which also monitors the need of
the society and helps in rectifying the syllabus.
The College Council seeks Specific suggestions from experts for enrichment of the
curriculum and integrates it with the academic work in consultation with the faculty.

1.3.2 What are the efforts made by the institution to enrich and organize the
curriculum to enhance the experiences of the students so as to cope with the
needs of the dynamic employment market?
Academic Council members from the institution have a regular meeting with the University and
submit the demands based on the educational needs for up-gradation and modification of the
curriculum. Once the curriculum is designed it is followed up to a maximum of 4 batches.
Whenever the changes are required, the syllabi will be modified and circulated to the affiliated
colleges by the university.
1.3.3 Enumerate the efforts made by the institution to integrate the cross cutting issues
such as Gender, Climate Change, Environmental Education, Human Rights, ICT
etc., into the curriculum?

The college runs co-education system. Both boys and girls are admitted. To avoid cross cut
issues such as gender, climate change etc., and the following committees are formed and the duty
of the committee is to monitor and take care of the students when they are in trouble.
1. Anti-Ragging Committee To protect the girls and boys from the harmful activities of the
seniors. In such cases, as per ragging act severe action will be taken against them.
2. Hospital is there in the institution with ambulance facility, doctors to provide treatment for the
students and institution will also provide medical insurance to the students
3. Library facilities with the latest books and Journals are also extended to the students. Internet
facilities are also provided to augment their knowledge.

1.3.4 What are the various value-added courses/enrichment programmes offered


to ensure holistic development of students?

The institution offers programmes like NSS, Fine Arts, & Career Guidance & Placement where
students can join to add moral and ethical values to their life.

Placement cell: It plays an important role in developing the students to excel themselves in this
competitive world. Placement cell gives soft skill training such as Personality Development,
Interview techniques, Pre Interview Preparation, Personality Development, Group Discussion,
Aptitude classes etc which enables the students to remove the fear of employability.
Fine Arts: It helps the students to motivate and inculcate their hidden talents and make the
students to develop their skills and encourage participating in various intercollegiate cultural
meets.
1.3.5 Citing a few examples enumerate on the extent of use of the Feedback from
stakeholders in enriching the curriculum?

The institution has a mechanism of collecting feedback from students about the evaluation on
teaching and syllabus completion. Students performance reports are analyzed and corrective
measures are taken to enrich the curriculum.
Feedback obtained from outgoing students also cover the efficiency of the syllabus with
respect to career requirements. These comments are formulated and presented to the board of
studies in the concerned discipline for consideration. Internal arrangements such as the finishing
programme for outgoing students and the modulation of extension programmes have been
undertaken on the basis of feedback analysis.
1.3.6 How does the institution monitor and evaluate the quality of its enrichment
programmes?
The institution conducts three internal assessment tests (IA) for every semester and exams are
conducted to monitor the students performance and evaluate them. Motivation and counseling
are given to the students to improve the learning skills and education.

1.4 Feedback System


1.4.1 What are the contributions of the institution in the design and development of the
curriculum prepared by the University?
The institution is affiliated to VTU, Belgaum and the curriculum is designed and developed by
the members of the board of study. Our faculty members who are all in the board of studies take
part in the planning of curriculum design and give their suggestion.
1.4.2 Is there a formal mechanism to obtain feedback from students and s t a k e h o l d e r s
on Curriculum? If y e s , h o w is i t communicated to the University and made use
internally for curriculum enrichment and introducing changes/new programmes?
Yes, the college has a formal mechanism to obtain feedback from students regarding the
curriculum. The feedback is assessed by the faculty and the input, which would consider it for

any modifications. Feedback obtained is analyzed and the various requirements of the
stakeholders are understood and incorporated. Feedback on every course is also taken at the end
of the course. There is a meticulously designed feedback taken from each student and it has to be
submitted mandatorily at the completion of the programme. The responses so obtained are
discussed and analyzed along with the same obtained from alumni, parents, employers, academic
peers and community in respective departments and the College Council. Suggestions thus
emerged are communicated to the University through the Board of Studies and Academic
Council.
1.4.3 How many new programmes/courses were introduced by the institution during the
last four years? What was the rationale for introducing new courses/programmes?)
