Duaa in the Quran

Chapter 1-11

AL- FATIHA
It is You we worship and You we ask for help. Guide us to the straight
path - The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those
1
who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray. (verse 5-7)

Rabbana taqabbal minna innaka antas samee ul aleem

And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House
and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed
You are the Hearing, the Knowing. (2:127)

Rabbana waijAAalna muslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatan

Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our
descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us
our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of
repentance, the Merciful (2:128)

Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to
Allah , and indeed to Him we will return." (2: 156)

But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this
world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that
which is] good and protect us from the punishment of
the Fire." (2:201)

Rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran wathabbit aqdamana waonsurna

And when they went forth to [face] Goliath and his soldiers, they said,
"Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give
us victory over the disbelieving people." (2:250)

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him

from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them
have believed in Allah and His angels and His books
and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction
between any of His messengers." And they say, "We
hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our
Lord, and to You is the [final] destination."(2: 285)
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will
have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear
[the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not
impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and
lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before
us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability
to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You
are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.
Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which
there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise." (3:89)3

Those who say, "Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins

O Allah , Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will
and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom
You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good.
Indeed, You are over all things competent.(3:26)4

At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from

And their words were not but that they said, "Our Lord, forgive us our sins
and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet
and give us victory over the disbelieving people." (3:147)

Rabbana ma khalaqta haaza baatilan

Rabbanaa innaka man tudkhilinnaara faqad

Rabbanaa wa aatina maa wa adtanaa alaa rusulika

Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and
give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying],
"Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above
such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire. Our
Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire - You have disgraced
him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers. Our Lord, indeed
we have heard a caller calling to faith, [saying], 'Believe in your
Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and
remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die with the righteous.
Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your
messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection.
Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise." (3:191-194)

AN- NISSA
rabbana akhrijna min hathihi alqaryati alththalimi ahluha waijAAal
lana min ladunka waliyyan waijAAal lana min ladunka naseera
And what is [the matter] with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah
and [for] the oppressed among men, women, and children who say,
"Our Lord, take us out of this city of oppressive people and appoint
for us from Yourself a protector and appoint for us from Yourself a
helper?" (4:75)

AL-MAEDA
rabbana amanna faoktubna maAAa alshshahideen
And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see
their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have
recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so
register us among the witnesses. (5:83)

Allahumma rabbana anzil AAalayna maidatan mina alssamai takoonu

lana AAeedan liawwalina waakhirina waayatan minka
waorzuqna waanta khayru alrraziqeen
Said Jesus, the son of Mary, "O Allah , our Lord, send down to us a table
[spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first
of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and
You are the best of providers." (5:114)

AL- ARAF
Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfirlana watar hamna lana
koonanna minal khasireen
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if
You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will
surely be among the losers." (7:23)
Rabbana laa tajAAalna ma al qawmizzaalimeen
And when their eyes are turned toward the companions of
the Fire, they say, "Our Lord, do not place us with the
wrongdoing people." (7:47)
rabbana iftah baynana wabayna qawmina
bialhaqqi waanta khayru alfatiheen
We would have invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion
after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it
except that Allah , our Lord, should will. Our Lord has encompassed
all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. Our Lord,
decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of
those who give decision." (7:89)5
Rabbana afrigh AAalayna sabran watawaffana muslimeena

When I was doing my notes, I didnt include this when making my list but after
researching I found that the last part Our Lord decide between us and our
people in truth and You are the best of those who give decision can be considered
a duaa.

10

And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our
Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let
us die as Muslims [in submission to You]." (7:126)

rabbi ighfir lee waliakhee waadkhilna fee rahmatika waanta arhamu

alrrahimeen
"My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, for
You are the most merciful of the merciful." (7:151)

And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our
appointment. And when the earthquake seized them,
he said, "My Lord, if You had willed, You could have
destroyed them before and me [as well]. Would You
destroy us for what the foolish among us have done?
This is not but Your trial by which You send astray
whom You will and guide whom You will. You are our
Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us; and
You are the best of forgive (7:155)
And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the
Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You." [ Allah ] said, "My
punishment - I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy
encompasses all things." So I will decree it [especially] for those
who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses
(7:156)

AT-TAWBA
Hasbiya Allahu la ilaha illa Hu, `alayhi tawakkaltu wa-Huwa Rabbu al`arsh al-`azhim

But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, "Sufficient for me is Allah ;

there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the
Lord of the Great Throne." (9:129)6

Abu Dawud narrates it in his Sunan (Book of Adab toward the end) as a saying of Abu al-Darda with

a chain of trustworthy narrators, which makes it authentic as a Companion-report. Furthermore, Ibn

Hajar and al-Mundhiri in Mukhtasar al-Targhib wal-Tarhib (p. 172 526) said it has the status of a
Prophetic hadith. The correct wording is: Whoever says when he reaches morning and when he
reaches evening Hasbiya Allahu la ilaha illa Hu, `alayhi tawakkaltu wa-Huwa Rabbu al-`arsh al`azhim seven times, Allah shall suffice him of whatever concerns him whether he is truthful or lying.

YUNUS
rabbana la tajAAalna fitnatan lilqawmi alththalimeen (85)
Wanajjina birahmatika mina alqawmi alkafireen (86)
So they said, "Upon Allah do we rely. Our Lord, make us not
[objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people And save
us by Your mercy from the disbelieving
people."(10:85-86)
And Moses said, "Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his
establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life, our Lord, that
they may lead [men] astray from Your way. Our Lord, obliterate
their wealth and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until
they see the painful punishment." (10:88)7

I couldnt find anything on this verse in terms of duaa- but I thought it was
interesting -

13

HUD
rabbi innee aAAoothu bika an asalaka ma laysa lee bihi AAilmun wailla
taghfir lee watarhamnee akun mina alkhasireen
[Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that
of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive
me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the
losers." (11:47)
