We wanted to take a quick moment and update you on Mrs. Youngdahl's departure. Hopefully, your child shared with you that Mrs. Youngdahl, our social studies teacher, resigned for family reasons and her final day with us was last Thursday. We are certainly sad to see her go and have been working diligently to interview and hire a teacher that will pick up where she left off and become a solid part of the Zebras team. Prior to Mrs. Youngdahl's departure, we were able to interview some candidates and we feel that we did find an experienced social studies teacher that will be a good fit for the team. It will take a few weeks for our new team member to finish up at their current position and go through orientation with WCPSS, so their expected start date is February 22nd. In the meantime, our administration has lined up seventh grade teachers from other tracks to come in and sub over their breaks. We are very grateful for their assistance during this transition period and we expect smooth sailing until our new team member joins us. We need your help in reinforcing expectations that students will follow classroom and school rules, adhere to assignment deadlines, and demonstrate PRIDE at all times. Please discuss behavior expectations with your child to help support the substitutes over the next few weeks. Once we have more details to share regarding our new social studies teacher, we will send home another update. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding as we navigate this change in our teaching staff. Kind regards, Shannon, Mark, and Meridith
