Department Overview
MarkitSERV provides a single gateway for OTC derivatives trade processing. By integrating trade confirmation,
reporting, routing to clearing, allocations and portfolio reconciliation, MarkitSERV provides an end-to-end
solution for post-trade transaction management of credit, interest rate, equity and foreign exchange derivatives.
MarkitSERV also connects dealers and buy-side institutions to central clearing counterparties, trade
repositories, and electronic swap markets.
MarkitSERV is the Derivatives Trade Processing division of Markit. MarkitSERV is a global business with staff
across North America, Europe and Asia. Business Analysts within the MarkitSERV Product Design team are
deployed across various projects within the firm. They are expected to bring experience in the Business
Analysis discipline in delivering against the project lifecycle. The department is a critical functional area as part
of the technology delivery organisation, closely partnering with business orientated functions in delivering
mission critical projects for the firm.

Position Summary
MarkitSERV has a requirement for an experienced Business Analyst to support its Trade Processing business.
MarkitSERV has an extensive roadmap of priorities critical to the success of the business. Although analysts are
expected to work across asset classes, knowledge of Equities OTC derivatives and Buy-side workflows for OTC
derivatives would be beneficial.
The role requires the candidate to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong
organisational / coordination skills, and strong analysis skills. The successful candidate will be process oriented
and have a good understanding of product development lifecycle. The candidate should be comfortable in a fast
paced environment and be flexible to adapt to changes. The candidate might be expected to travel to offices
including London, and possibly New York.
The candidate will work closely with other Business Analysts and Product Designers in the Trade Processing
business to deliver project change. The candidate will be expected to work with teams in Singapore, Tokyo,New
York and London.

Duties and Accountabilities

Understanding of requirements elicitation, structured analysis, stakeholder management, use case


definition and other Business Analysis techniques

Able to produce structured analysis and design documents

Able to work with QA and Dev during testing to ensure implementation meets design and requirements

Sanity and Component testing of new features during the development phase & review of test plans

Able to conduct public presentation of concepts and ideas comfortably

Able to identify options for potential solutions, including assessment of technical and business suitability

Able to work collaboratively and consistently with team members at all levels, peers, senior analysts
and managers and complex stakeholder group across geographical boundaries

Able to work creatively, propose ideas and contribute to working groups and team meetings

A basic understanding of financial derivatives terms and principals would be beneficial for the role
Understanding of XML Schemas, DTDs, XSL Transformation style sheets would be beneficial

Education and experience
Post graduate Bachelors or Masters Degree preferred
0-3 years of relevant professional experience
Prior Financial Services IT experiencewould be beneficial
Working knowledge of requirements elicitation, structured analysis, stakeholder management, use case
definition and other Business Analysis techniques
Understanding of XML/DTD and FpML would be beneficial
Prior experience with the MarkitWire platform would be strongly desirable
Knowledge of Equities OTC derivatives and Buy-side workflows for OTC derivatives would be beneficial

Commercial awareness
Experience in the financial markets
An understanding of financial derivatives terms and principals is required for the role.
