A. DISCUSSION
The researcher want to elaborate the result of research findings that
encompass two research questions; students attitude and students behaviour
towards English in speaking class.
Students Attitude towards English
Gardner (1980) in Tamimi (2009) stated that attitude as the sum total of
mans instinctions and feelings, prejudice or bias, preconceived notions, fears,
threatsand convictions about any specified topic. According to Likert defined the
term attitude as an inference which is made on the basis of a complex of beliefs
about the attitude object. Ajzen (2005) wrote, attitude is a disposition to repons
favorably or unfavorably to an object, person, institution, or event. Attitude is a
hypothetical construct that, being inaccessible to direct observation, must be
inferred from measureable responses.
Based on the result of questionnaire and semi structured interview,
those revealed that the students of English Education Program had positive
attitude in term of cognitive aspect. Referring to Gajalaksmi study on International
Jurnal of scientific and research for High school students attitude towards
learning English language. Gajalaksmi (2009) emphasized the cognitive aspect
of attitude involves the beliefs of the language learners about the knowledge that
they received and their understanding in the process of language learning. Ajzen
(2005) adds, cognitive responses is responses that reflect perceptions of, and
thoughts about, the attitude object. Thus, a person who holds strong beliefs that
positively valued outcomes will result from performing the behaviour will have
positive attitude. The researcher could say if the students think and have beliefs
that English is a language rescuer for future. She/he already has cognitive aspect
of attitude.
Based on the questionnaire result. The researcher found as many as 33
students (100%) had positive attitude by choosing SA (strongly Agree) and A

world and can share to others by English. (Tulip-Interview1-CaoA)

The participants also showed that they had positive attitude in term of
affective aspect of attitude. Gajalakshmi (2013) stated that effective aspect of
attitude can help the learners to express whether they like or dislike the objects
or surrounding situations. Ajzen (2005) cited affective responses is responses
from which attitudes can be inferred has to do with evaluations of, and feelings
towards, the attitude object. McKenzie (2010) adds, emotional aspect which
known as effective aspect of attitude is component of attitude to involve an
emotional response to the attitudinal object or feel excited when someone hears
plans for the pacts (emotion), e.g a love of English Literature. So, when the
students like to imitate native speaker or like to hear English song. They may
have affective aspect of attitude.
pressure to perform it, and when they believe that they have the means and
upportunities to do so.
On the result of observation in speaking class, the participants had
negative behavior towars English. Ajzen (2005) strengthened Inconsistency of
behavior from one occasion to another can be introduced by factors related to the
person performing the behavior.E.g mood or attentiveness. So, she/he is only
