So the timeline I puzzled together consists of two halves, which I call Earth-1 and Earth-2,
respectively. The former is characterized by the presence of Robert Lutece, while in the latter,
Rosalinde Lutece takes his place. They are essentially identical up to 1891:
1874 (E-1, E-2): Booker DeWitt is born.
1890 (E-1, E-2): Booker, aged 16, participates in the Wounded Knee Massacre
Ca. 1891 (E-1): Booker goes to receive baptism but refuses in the last second (WKM took place in
December, while it's summer in Booker's baptism flashback). He gets married in the same year.
Ca. 1891 (E-2): Booker receives baptism and is born again as Zachary Comstock. Sometime later,
Comstock meets Rosalinde Lutece and sponsors her experiments on alternate realities. Through that,
he acquires knowledge of the future, proclaiming himself a prophet. It also eventually renders him
sterile and makes him age at an unnatural pace.
1892 (E-1): Bookers wife dies giving birth to Anna DeWitt; Booker acquires large gambling debts and
is discharged from the Pinkerton Agency.
1893 (E-2): Columbia is launched under Comstocks leadership, based on Rosalindes experiments.
Next, Comstock orders her to bring him the daughter of his Earth-1 counterpart.
1893 (E-1): Booker sells Anna to Comstock via Robert Lutece to pay off his gambling debts; Anna is
taken to Earth-2 by Robert; Booker becomes a shut-in for almost 20 years.
1895 (E-2): Comstock kills his wife and both Lutece twins to keep Anna/Elizabeths origin a secret.
Unbeknownst to him, the Luteces continue to exist in space-time continuum.
1901 (E-2): Columbia fights in the Battle of Peking.
1912 (E-1, E-2): The Lutece twins decide to fix the space-time disruptions in Columbia by bringing
Booker, who has been a shut-in for almost 20 years now, from Earth-1 to Earth-2, kicking off the
main plot.
The timelines that get spawned in the process of the game are pretty straightforward, actually, since
all of them are basically variations of Earth-2. Earth-1, in the meantime, continues to exist as it has
existed before, since the harmless drunk Booker is no big loss for history. It can be either our familiar
Earth, or the Earth from the previous BioShock games, which is briefly visited in the endgame.
