Information about BaseSoftware WinNT4.0 V06.03.06 for PCU50

This basic software acts as the base for the installation of applications such as HMI Software,
Step7 and ProToolPro on the PCU50.
A list of the versions of the components contained in the basic software can be found in file
C:\BaseVers.txt.
The basic software is available only as pre-installed software on the PCU50. We recommend
that you use Ghost to create a system backup of the delivery status. You will find the
necessary support function in the Service menu which is displayed while the PCU50 is
booting. You will need Ghost 6.0 on the external PC to use BackUp/Restore via the parallel
interface on the PCU. A System Restore operation using Ghost must always be executed via
the Service menu in order to preserve the existing partitioning of the PCU hard disk.
The delivery status of the basic software (partitions C:, E:, F: ) is also available as a Ghost
partitions image on D:\Images and can be restored via a Service menu function (Partitions
Restore, Mode LOCAL).
The application software can be installed directly under Windows NT via a network link or
from a disk. It is also possible to transfer the software to be installed to directory
D:\INSTALL on the PCU by means of Intersvr/Interlnk (the relevant support functions can be
found in the Service menu). In this case, you can call setup.exe in D:\INSTALL to start the
software installation process automatically.
Please also note the following special points and restrictions (supplementary conditions):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Only one additional USB keyboard and / or one extra USB mouse may be connected to the
USB interfaces of the PCU50 or OP0xx. Other devices with USB interface are not supported.
If a USB keyboard or USB mouse is connected when the system is in operation, there may be
a delay (of seconds) until the keyboard/mouse becomes operational.
The OP0xx keyboard will type lower-case letters when CapsLock mode on an external
keyboard is selected. The "select" key on the OP0xx keyboard will type "5" if NumLock
mode is activated on an external keyboard.
Support is provided only for external keyboards with a SINUMERIK key layout (QWERTY).
The PC card interface on the PCU50 is not supported by the basic software.
The free ISA/PCI slots on the PCU50 are not supported by the basic software. If you insert
any cards, you must also install the appropriate drivers.
