Installation
Software installation
Administrator rights are required to install the software.
Put the CD in the CD/DVD drive.
Should the installation program not start automatically, open the Windows Explorer and start the file
Setup.exe.
Follow the instructions of the installation program.

Driver installation
With installing the software the required drivers for the interfaces a installed in advance.
Please inquire the separate driver installation guide in case of problems.
The driver installation program (ebroDrivers.exe) is located on the CD in folder Drivers in order
to start it manually if needed.

Installation of additional components

If needed the aditional components MSXML, CrystalReportModules as well as Microsoft .NET
Framework in version 3 are installed automatically.
These components are required to display correctly display the software generated reports.
Each installation program is located on the CD in folder Updates in order to start it manually if
needed.

Command line parameter

The setup can be started with the following command line parameter:
Parameter

Description

/log

Enables the logging mode, which logs entries to

the log file Setup.log during installation.
This file is created in the folder where
Setup.exe is located.

/V _SB_USERSERIAL <Serialnumber>

Assigns the serial number <Seriennumber>

to be display in the setup.

/X <Installationspath>

Assigns the default installation path

<Installationspfad> to be displayed in
the setup. The installation path must be quoted if
it contains white spaces (See example below).

/S

Starts the setup in Silent mode. Which requires

no user activity during installation.

Further information can be found in the

appropriate chapter..

Examples:
Setup.exe /V _SB_USERSERIAL 12345-678-9012345-67890
Starts the setup using the assigned serial number 12345-678-9012345-67890 for the serial
number input dialog.

Setup.exe /log /X C:\My files\Winlog

Starts the setup using the assigned installation path C:\My files\Winlog to be displayed in the
instal folder selection dialog. Additionally the log file Setup.log is created.

Setup.exe /S
Starts the setup in Silent mode.

Installation in silent mode

The command line parameters to assign the serial number and the installation path are
skipped in silent mode, because those data is set within the file Setup.ini.

For installing the Winlog.basic no serial number is needed.

An existing version of the software will be removed in the first step when using the silent
mode.
To start the setup in silent mode without user interactivity the command line parameter /S is used.
Therefor the file Setup.ini is required in the same folder of the file Setup.exe.
This file has the following format:
[InstalParams]
Serial=<SERIAL>
InstalDir=<INSTALDIR>
InstalLng=<LANGUAGE_CODE>
The key Serial specifies the software's serial number. If it is does not exist or if it is empty the
software's demo version will be installed.
The optional key InstalDir can be used to change the default installation path.
The optional key InstalLng can be used to specify the language to be installed. The table below lists
the possible values for <LANGUAGE_CODE>:

A setup must not necessarily contain all listed languages! For invalid or not supported
values for <LANGUAGE_CODE> the English version is installed. The setup will end with an
appropriate exit code if English is not available.
Example for a Setup.ini:
The file listed below configures the setup for silent mode. The English software version is installed to
folder C:\Meine Programme\Winlog with serial 12345-678-9012345-67890 .
[InstalParams]
Serial=12345-678-9012345-67890
InstalDir=C:\My files\Winlog
InstalLng=EN
The command line parameter /log to create the log file Setup.log can be used to get information
about the executed actions during silent mode.

Setup exit codes

After exit the installation file Setup.exe assigns the DOS ERRORLEVEL. The following values are
possible:
Error code

Meaning

No error

100

An already installed version could not be removed automatically

200

The setup can not be started in sillent mode due to missing Setup.ini

201

The setup can not be started in sillent mode due to an invalid serial number

202

The default language English is not available for silent mode.

Uninstall
Uninstalling the software
In order to uninstall the software open the list of all installed software in the operating systems control
panel. Select the software and press Remove.

Uninstalling the drivers

With installing the software several entries like
Windows Driver Package ebro Electronic GmbH & Co. KG have been added to the list
of installed software.
Furthermore the following third party drivers have been installed:
Windows Driver Package - ATEN (Ser2pl) Ports
PL-2302 USB-to-Serial
The additionally installed drivers are not removed automatically, because other installed
ebro programs could require them as well. For complete uninstall they have to be removed
separately in the same way the software is removed.

Uninstalling additional components

If needed the installation program has installed additional components.
They are registered in the list of software as follows:

Crystal Report Modules

MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK
Microsoft .NET Framework
The additionally installed components are not removed automatically, because other
installed ebro programs could require them as well. For complete uninstall they have to be
removed separately in the same way the software is removed.

Important notes
Please mind the following notes for the softwares correct operation:

Logger communication in frequency range 2,4 GHz

Loggers of type EBI 10, EBI 15 and EBI 100 (sequel named logger system) communicate over an
IEEE 802.15.4 radio interface utilizing the 2.4 GHz frequency range
This frequency range is also used by WLAN and Bluetooth. Using 2 radio systems on the same
frequency range on the same location can cause interference. To avoid this, you can one of 16
channels for radio transmission.
4 channels are used for communication when loggers have been inserted into the interface (1 channel
per interface port).

As you can see on the image, frequencies for the logger system and WLAN overlap depending on the
used channels. Example: When using a WLAN network on channel 1 you can select channel 15 or
higher for the logger communication.
In case you have several WLAN networks communication on channels 1, 6 and 11 for example, you
can select the channels 15, 20, 25, and 26 for the logger communication.
