SWOT ANALYSIS

Swot analysis is a tool that identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
of an organization. Specifically, SWOT is a basic, straightforward model that assesses what an
organization can and cannot do as well as its potential opportunities and threats. It is an
analytical tool used for the identification and categorization of internal and external factors. It
can help organizations in their strategic planning process, and in matching their capabilities and
resources to the competitive environment in which it carries out its operations.

Swot analysis helps you focus on your strengths, minimize threats, and take the greatest
possible advantage of opportunities available to you. By looking at yourself and your
competitors using the SWOT framework, you can start to craft a strategy that helps you
distinguish yourself from your competitors, so that you can compete successfully in your market.
Strengths
Strengths are internal attributes and resources that support a successful outcome.
a. Product utility in emergency situations
The eco-lamp can still be used in case of power shortages or electric black-outs
because its main energy source is solar power and therefore it doesnt need to be
charged or plugged to an electricity outlet.
b. Lower electricity consumption for consumers
As a light source that does not rely on electricity, the eco-lamps consumers will have
the benefit of lower electricity costs for their household.
Weaknesses

Weaknesses refer to the internal characteristics which may be deemed unfavourable for
the organization.
a. Limited energy storing capacity
Unlike ordinary lamps, the eco-lamp will make use of solar energy which will be
stored while it charges during the day. A disadvantage of this is that it can only be
used to the extent of how much solar energy is stored and not indefinitely.
Opportunities
Opportunities are external factors the project can capitalize on or use to its advantage.
a. Availability of product in many locations
The eco-lamp will have a number of distributors aside from BMPRs main branch in
Silang, Cavite. This means that consumers from other locations may also purchase the
products as they wish.
b. Less competitors in the market
Since the product is not yet widely known in the market, BMPR has more chances of
making the eco-lamp popular to consumers and making a name for itself while there
are still less competitors around.
Threats
Threats are external characteristics which may be potential sources of failure to the
organization.
a. Consumers unfamiliarity with the product
As the survey shows, some people havent heard of the eco-lamp. This can be a threat
in the marketing side because consumers usually buy the products which are familiar
to them.
