1 Scope
The DCSS is a VF controlled door drive system for the DO2000 and for the 'Modernization'-Applications. This door system is able to interface with 3 different kind of controller
types. The DCSS can be controlled by discrete signals (LCB), by a serial link (MCSS) or by
a Relay Controller. In that case an additional Interface Board is necessary to service the
enhanced amount of Inputs/Outputs. which signal voltages can range from 48V to 230V.
The selection of the Interface is done by setting a parameter in the INSTALLATION menu.
2 Safety References
Please ensure that the EDS button is reachable when a door movement is started.
Inside the DCSS dangerous high voltage (>310Vdc) is connected to several devices. The cover of the box must be closed before switching on the mains!
In case of reopening the box wait at least 1min. after switching off the power to be
sure the main capacitor is discharged!

4 Connections
Before switching power to the door operator, the connections must be checked:
Ground connection of the plug pins P1.2, P2.3 and the heat sink

4.3.1 Inputs
Max. 8 input signals can be connected with a voltage range from 48V up to 230V AC or DC
given by the various kind of installations. To cover this wide range of voltages the inputs are
divided into two voltage ranges. One range operates from 48/-15% to 110 volt and covers
the most used signals. The other input is used for voltages higher than 130V/-15% up to
max. 240V/+10%.
To connect these signals with the "DCSS" they must be adapted by the interface box to the
appropriate voltage level of the inputs of the door system. These signals are:

The inputs SGS, 2nd PROF and NDG can be programmed either as 'high' active or
'low' active input in the Setup menu OTHER (key:3-3-3)
4.3.2 Outputs
The interface box has 6 relay outputs which are controlled by two 30V output signals of the
DCSS. The two outputs control an 8-Bit shift register, whereby one signal is the Data and
the other the Clock signal. To bring a new data to the output the according data state is
clocked into the shift register. If 6 data states are shifted in, the complete output information
is stored in the shift register. With the 8th clock the contents of the shift register is latched to
the output where a relay driver sets the 6 relays according to the data state. Simultaneous
the shift register is cleared and is now ready to be written for the next data to be shifted in.
This procedure needs max. 16x8.192ms = 131ms and the output is refreshed in this cycle
time.
The max. contact ratings are 230Vac / 8A.

The outputs are activated if the door panel has reached the programmed position. This position can be adjusted individual for each relay by setting a distance with the Service Tool in
the 'SETUP-OTHER Menu'. Except the output Relay6, which is not position controlled. This
output will be activated if a reversal is requested by the SGSinput signal and an adjustable
time delay has timed out. For further information see point 4.2.2.
DO/DC - Signal:
Depending on the controller environment the door open/close command can be either a
single 'DO' signal or a combined 'DO/DC' signal. To select the single DO command modus
the jumper S2 has to set on DO 1-2.
Encoder Interface:
To be free in the choice of encoders the output signals can be adapted by setting the
jumper S1 to 'pull up' for open collector and push pull encoder outputs or to 'pull down' for
other applications. Generally the jumper is set to 'pull up'.

5 First Installation
5.1 Starting Up Condition
The DO2000 is developed to operate under a power supply range between
230V - 15% up to 230V + 10%
Obviously the motor torque is influenced by the power supply. Due to this fact, please operate the installation procedure with a supply voltage close to 230V.
Otherwise it is not guaranteed that:
the performance of the door movement
the emerging closing forces
conforms with the desired performance and the code requirements over the whole power
supply range.
5.2 SETUP Routine (Installation)
For the first time to put the system into operation a set of Door Parameter must have to
copied into the empty EEPROM. If it is not happened the system will not run. In case of a
repeated installation this step can be passed over to avoid an unwished overwriting of the
parameter.
The parameters depends on the type of door and the type of controller.
Furthermore the wiring of the motor cable and the speed encoder can be checked and
corrected by the software if they are not in line with the direction of move.
In order to simplify the installation the complete procedure is menu-driven and is monitored
on the Service Tool. The user only needs to follow the displayed instructions and has to
confirm the requests.
The Installation starts if the system is set into the 'INSPECTION' mode and the Service
Tool Menu is set to 'INSTALL' by press the key sequence 3-3-1 with following display:
,-----------------.
| SET UP ROUTINE |
| GOON WITH ENTER |
`-----------------'
If you confirm with <ENTER> you will be ask for to set the DEFAULT PARAMETER.
For the first time you have to enter '1' to set up the parameter.
To avoid an overwriting of an existing set of parameters you can enter '2' to go to the next
menu.

You can choose between a DISCRETE interface (like MCS310,312,210...), a SERIAL interface (like 311,321,411) and an Interface Box for a RELAY controller. This additional Interface Box must be connected between the Relay Controller and the DCSS4.

If a Serial Interface has been chosen, the system address must be entered, a Line Terminator must be set and it is asked for the serial link type (MCS311/321 or MCS411).
If the system was configurated to a Discrete or Interface Box this display does not appear.
At first the system address must be entered. It can be 'DCSS_1' for a front door or
'DCSS_2' for the alternate door. For a double-deck car the addresses are increased up to
'DCSS_4'.

Then the LINE TERMINATOR must be set. It replaces the switch in the old DCSS control

by entering a 2. For 2 doorsystems the physical farthest system set be On and the other

The last installation for the serial link application is to specify the controller type. Do I have a

If the Interface Box has been chosen, the system asks for a special operation mode,

At the last step the door way is measured by a Learn Run. For that purpose the door has to
close at first to find a defined position. In the next step the door moves to the open direction

If the door is fully open the door starts to close again and measures the actual way of door.
In that phase the doorway will be displayed in [mm] on the display.
The user only has to start the Learn Run and to confirm the measured way at the end.

Now the Door System is installed and should be run with a good performance.

6 Parameter Setting
If the behavior of the door movement is not sufficient with the first installation setting, it can
be improved by adjusting the dictated velocity profile and the door width. Therefore the
'Profile Parameter' and 'Other Parameter' menu is provided.
The Engineering Parameter Menu should be used only on the engineering level to
have access to all parameters.
A detailed list of the default values of all possible door type combinations you will find in
the Service Tool Reference List.

Nudging Velocity
With the Nudging Velocity parameter the speed for the nudging operation can
be adjusted. It should be high enough to bring the door into the fully closed
position in any case. On the other hand it should not exceed the torque limit that
passengers can be endangered.
Voltage Boost
The door motor is controlled by a Variable Frequency control. To get a constant torque the
voltage should be proportional to the frequency.
At very low frequencies the voltage must be increased, done by this parameter. With a
higher Voltage Boost the torque will be increased and the door will follow the dictated velocity profile more accurate, but on the other hand the motor will heat up.
Passenger Protection
The sensitivity of Passenger Protection can be adjusted by this parameter. To avoid an unwished reopening, forced by a deviation from dictated velocity and the actual one the slip
limit can be increased by this parameter. But a high slip limit reduces the sensitivity of the
Passenger Protection.
TCI with BS7255
According to the British Standard Mode BS7255 the control of the door move must be possible without Service Tool from the top of the car by means of the Top of Car Inspection
Box. To select this mode the parameter must be set to '1'.
(only used for Serial link interface)
MCS411: GSM-DIST
If the Door System is used in a MCS411 application a 'GSM' signal must be generated,
which is sent via the serial link to the MCSS board.
This signal should be set if the door has reached a certain distance before fully closed. The
distance can be programmed from 50 to 500mm.
