General Objectives:
After the course and given actual clients with maladaptive patterns of functioning, the student should be able to:
1. Utilize the nursing process in the care of individuals, families in community and hospital settings.
a. Assess with client/s his/her/their condition through mental status examination, physical examination, and interpretation of
laboratory procedures.
b. Identify actual or at risk nursing diagnosis.
c. Plan appropriate nursing intervention with client/s and family for identified nursing diagnosis.
d. Implement plan of care with client/s and family.
e. Evaluation the progress of clients condition and outcomes of care.
2. Apply knowledge and understanding of maladaptive patterns of behavior in providing safe and quality care to clients.
3. Increase self-awareness and therapeutic use of self in the care of clients.
4. Ensure a well organized and accurate documentation system.
5. Relate with client/s and their family and the health team appropriately.
6. Observe bioethical concepts and principles, core values and nursing standards in the care of clients.
7. Promote a personal and professional growth of self and others.

3. Proper attitude of prudence, patience, accuracy, and gentleness in handling clients and his/her relatives/significant others in stress and

ER Orientation Activities for Clinical Instructor:
Must have been completed prior to student exposure and done in coordination with the affiliating hospital training officer or ER head nurse
for a week depending on hospital policies
ER Orientation Activities for Students: (done on the 1st day of clinical exposure)
Orientation on the following:
Expectations, rules and regulation
Facility personnel/organization chart
Facility set-up, supplies, instruments, equipments, and psycho drugs
Facility protocols, policies and guidelines
Facility records and forms (for documentation, requisition, referrals, etc.)
Practice of skills
Grading system and requirements attendance, NCPs, EBNs, case study, return demonstrations, evaluation checklist
