A3
Screed Concentrate
DESCRIPTION

Important!

A 3 is made up of high quality additives and

superior polymer to produce rapid useable
screed for receiving floor coverings such as
cementitious / PU / epoxy / floorings or
coatings. A 3 screed shall be installed as:
- unbonded / bonded
- separation layer
- insulation layer
- heated screed

It is important not to overfill the mixer above the

recommended volume. As rule of thumb that the
mixing drum should only be filled up to of the
volume.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The working time of the Screed is approx.

1 hour. Mixing, application, levelling and
smoothing must succeed each other at a brisk
pace. The screed installation should only be of
such a size that they can be completed within
this working time. Higher temperature shorten,
lower ones lengthen working and hardening
time. Day and controled joints must be provided
and implemented as in conventional screeds.

The concrete surface must be dry, hard, sound,

free of dust and the barrier materials such as
paint, lime coatings, plaster, curing agents, wax,
polish, laitance, adhesive residues, etc., that will
inhibit adhesion to the substrate. The substrate
strength must be sufficient to support the
screed.
Concrete surface must be mechanically
prepared, either by scrabbling, grinding,
contained shot blasting equipment or similar,
and be vacuumed clean prior to priming.
PRIMING

For bonded screeds slurry has to be produced

in the following manner
P 51 : Water : Grey OPC Cement : 0-4mm Sand
1 : 2 :

:

Screed - flexural testing

MIXING

Mix the following ingredients using a suitable

mixer. Add 500g of A 3 + 50kg of Grey OPC
53Grade cement + 250kg of screed silica
sand (0 - 8mm) + 20 - 30 litres of water
(depending on the moisture of the sand).
NOTE: For alternative sand:cement mix ratio, please
contact ARDEX ENDURA - Central Technical Services
Department. Test has shown that sand complying with the
following grading table provides a workable screeding
mortar with good compactability.

For unbonded screeds minimum thickness of

screed should be 55mm and maximum 75mm.
For bonded screeds minimum thickness should
be 15mm and maximum 75mm.

Panel size maximum 60m (respect max ratio

Length : width 2 : 1) for unbonded screed.
FLOOR COVERINGS

Then the slurry has to be applied to the

substrate.
Must not be worked at temperature below
+5C. 1.2kg of mixed slurry covers
approximately 1m/coat.

28 days

Screed prepared using A 3 can be walked on

after 8 hours, for bonded screed, ceramic tiles
can be laid after 24 hours, for unbonded or
floated screed after 7 days drying time ready to
receive Tiles, Natural stone and Concrete slabs
as well as elastic and textile floor coverings and
parquet. During installation the temperature
should be > +10C and the relative humidity is
< 70%.
