GCSO LAW ENFORCEMENT SUMMARY


FEBRUARY 1, 2016 FEBRUARY 7, 2016

On Monday, February 1, Deputy S. Cook arrested Shelton C. Lewis (31) in the 400 block of Gulf
Aire Drive. Lewis was wanted in Bay County on a Writ of Bodily Attachment. He was
transported to the Gulf County Detention Facility (GCDF).
On February 1, Lt. T. Wood responded to a complaint of suspicious activity in the 8100 block of
West Highway 98 in St. Joe Beach. The reporting person observed a bike leaning against a tree
in the front yard of a residence with the garage door open. Once on scene, Lt. Wood
determined someone had entered the home. Investigator L. Greenwood and Crime Scene
Investigator M. Ward responded to conduct an investigation. After speaking with the key
holder, it was determined someone had stayed in the home and a few items were reported as
stolen. Physical evidence was collected from the scene and the case remains under

On February 1, the Gulf County Sheriffs Office (GCSO) received a complaint regarding criminal
mischief in 100 block of Needlegrass Lane in Overstreet. Deputy D. Sanders responded to
investigate. The complainant discovered damage to the gate at the main entrance to the
property and notice the security key pad to the gate had been removed. It appeared that the
incident occurred on the same day that the crime was reported.
On Thursday, February 4, the GCSO assumed custody of Walter F. Bowers, Jr. (50), at Liberty
Correctional Institution in Liberty County. The GCSO had a detainer on Bowers due to an active
warrant for the Sale of Cocaine within 1,000 Feet of a Park and the Unlawful Use of a Two-Way
Communications Device. He was transported to the GCDF.
On February 4, the GCSO extradited Cody A. Skipper (30) from Calhoun County. Skipper was
arrested and held of the GCSO on an active warrant for Failure to Appear. He was transported
to the GCDF.
On Friday, February 5, David S. Watts (24) turned himself in at the GCSO. Watts was wanted on
an arrest order for Contempt of Court. He was turned over to the staff with the GCDF.

On Saturday, February 6, Sgt. J. Murnan arrested Joesett D. Jones (30) in the 300 block of Myers
Road in Five Acre Farms. Jones was taken into custody after Sgt. Murnan responded to a
disturbance call and determined Jones was wanted for Violation of Probation. She was on
probation for Driving Under the Influence. Jones was transported to the GCDF.
On Sunday, February 7, Sgt. J. Williams observed Aaron S. Whitehurst (32) driving a vehicle on
U.S. Highway 98 in the Highland View area. Whitehurst was wanted by the GCSO for Retail
Theft. The original case was investigated by Sgt. Williams and occurred at the Dixie Dandy in
Wewahitchka. During the contact with Whitehurst, Sgt. Williams determined he was operating
the vehicle on a suspended drivers license for failure to pay traffic fines. Whitehurst was
arrested and transported to the GCDF. In addition to the warrant, he was charged with Driving
While License Suspended/Revoked (DWLS/R).
