CAREER SYNOPSIS
Assisted clients in the evaluation/selection of computerized accounting systems, implementing same and creating the
necessary processes/procedures. Served as interim Controller, Accounting Manager, CIO, CTO, for clients and assisted in
preparation of monthly budgets and cash flow forecasts, financial statements for both internal and external use.
Gottlieb and Associates also assists our clients in any area of their IT Asset Management initiatives. We have assisted
clients in responding to software publisher audit requests as well as response to a BSA or SIIA audit. We are the managers
of the Software Asset Manager Group on LinkedIn. As part of our SAM work we created SWident which provides
software identification services to medium and large size companies in the US and Europe. Our service filled the gap
between what our clients software discovery tools told them was installed and what was actually installed, usually about
50% of the installed applications. I built a database of over 11,000 software publishers and the associated programs they
distributed and or sold.

Served as Interim Chief Financial Officer for this start-up engineering consulting company and as such significantly
improved the financial reporting and functions of the company. In that work I completely revamped the chart of accounts
to provide financial statements that actually provided actionable information, implemented an accountable travel
advance program to reduce the companies and the employees taxes, researched and recommended health savings and
401k plans and documented/improved the accounting processes and procedures at the company reducing the time required
for production of monthly financial statements.
1993-2006
Providing software copyright enforcement auditing, software development, and business consulting.
During work with Attest I was personally involved in the conduct of over 50 software enforcement audits working with
the BSA, SIIA, Microsoft, Autodesk as well attorneys, federal marshals and other software publishers. I wrote and
published many articles, made presentations, designed and conducted trainings and gave speeches on the subject of PC
asset and software management, disaster recovery planning and software compliance.
Recognizing the need for quality legally defensible software audit enforcement services, founded and led the firm for over ten
years. Hired, mentored and supervised the staff, growing from a startup crew of three to over 60 in 1999, with revenues
exceeding $8 million. The firm was recognized as the 2nd fastest growing Bay Area company in 1997-98 and 5th fastest
growing Windows software company.
Responding to the boom and bust nature of the software business, successfully led the firm through periods of explosive
growth as well as cathartic upheavals, preserving profitability and retaining key management personnel through the lean
times.
Identifying the business advantages of strategic partnering, led the expansion of the sales force to over 30 countries through
personally recruiting and training remotely located partners.
