POLYLINES

This application can be used with AutoCAD to modify closed polylines. You can unite,
intersect, subtract, divide and trim closed polylines. APLUS commands PLU, PLI,
PLS, PLD, PLT and PLIN are similar to Boolean commands however Boolean
commands (UNION, SUBTRACT and INTERSECT) create only composite solids,
surfaces, or regions. With the POLYLINES application you can create composite
polylines by subtracting, combining, or finding the intersection of closed polylines
similarly to Boolean commands.
The POLYLINES add-on makes easy opening closed polylines and enclosing
opened polylines. It lets you purge polylines of needless elements, move, rotate and
align polylines segments and more!
APLUS offers tools to make process of drawing and editing polylines faster and
easier than standard AutoCAD commands. APLUS makes better use of polylines
properties for measuring areas. It is also easier to fill enclosed polylines with hatch
(pattern or solid fill), move vertices or polylines segments. Additionally, the
information contained by polylines can be used to create schedules of room areas,
finishes etc, which can be easily done with APLUS.
APLUS recommends using polylines instead of lines for drawing. A rectangle made
of lines consists of 4 objects, while rectangle drawn as polyline is saved as 1 object.
4 lines have 8 vertices, 1 polyline has 4 vertices. Polyline has consistent object
properties such as layer, color, line type etc. Also for polyline it is necessary to set
properties only once, while matching properties of many separate lines can be time
consuming. Dwg file drawn with polylines is 4 times smaller than the file with lines.

Getting Started
To launch the add-on use the following commands:
PLU combines closed polylines by addition
PLI creates closed polylines from overlapping polylines
PLS subtracts closed polylines from another polylines
PLD divides closed polyline into parts by another polyline

PLT trims off closed polyline from another polyline

PLIN generates closed polylines from overlapping polylines
PLC closes opened polylines
PLO opens closed polylines
PLP purges polylines
PLW changes width of polyline
PLWS changes width of polylines segment
ALPL aligns selected polylines segment
MPL moves selected polylines segment
ROPL rotates selected polylines segment
PLR rectifies selected polylines segments

Usage
The POLYLINES application integrates its menu into AutoCAD upper menu and
toolbar. To show application toolbar use APLUST command in command line. All
commands are still accessible from upper menu.
There are three basic methods of running application command:
1. Use AutoCAD > APLUS > POLYLINES > upper menu to find commands.
2. Use APLUS toolbar (if you wish to turn it on, type APLUST command).
3. Type command directly in AutoCAD command line.

PLU
COMBINES CLOSED POLYLINES BY ADDITION
You can combine two or more closed polylines into composite closed polyline (or
polylines). The resulting composite polylines include the area enclosed by all of the
selected polylines.

PLI
CREATES CLOSED POLYLINES FROM OVERLAPPING
POLYLINES
You can create a closed polyline from the common area of two intersecting closed
polylines. APLUS finds the intersecting area of two polylines and creates new
polylines from the common area. If there is no intersection, all selected polylines are
deleted.

PLS
COMBINES CLOSED POLYLINE BY SUBTRACTION
Select one set of closed polylines you want to keep, then select another set of closed
polylines you want to subtract. Polylines in the second selection set are subtracted
from objects in the first selection set. New closed polylines are created.

PLD
DIVIDES CLOSED POLYLINE INTO PARTS BY ANOTHER
POLYLINE
Select a closed polyline that you want to subdivide, then select a closed polyline that
is a divider. First polyline is divided into closed polylines.

PLT
TRIMS OFF CLOSED POLYLINE FROM ANOTHER POLYLINE
Select one set of closed polylines that you want to trim, then select another set of
trimming polylines. Polylines selected first are divided into segments while polylines
selected second (trimming polylines) remain unchanged.

PLIN
GENERATES CLOSED POLYLINES FROM OVERLAPPING
POLYLINES
You can create a closed polyline from the common area of two intersecting closed
polylines. APLUS finds the intersecting area of two polylines and creates new
polylines from the common area. If there is no intersection, all selected polylines are
deleted.
PLI command is similar to this command, however this command modifies only
polylines selected first while second polylines remain unchanged.

PLC
CLOSES OPENED POLYLINE
Select an opened polyline (or polylines) to enclose it.

PLO
OPENS CLOSED POLYLINE
Select a closed polyline to open it. The polyline gets opened by erasing its last
segment (automatically).

PLP
PURGES POLYLINE
Select polylines to purge of needless elements such as doubled vertices. All
elements to be deleted are highlighted in red.

PLW

CHANGES WIDTH OF POLYLINE

To change width of polyline:
1. Select polyline.
2. Specify on-screen width.

PLWS
CHANGES WIDTH OF POLYLINES SEGMENT

To change width of polylines segment:

1. Select segment of polyline.
2. Specify on-screen width.

ALPL
ALIGNS SELECTED POLYLINES SEGMENTS

To align selected polylines segments:

1. Pick polylines segment to be aligned.
2. Specify second object. First polyline will be moved and aligned to the second
object while length of neighbouring segments will be adjusted.

MPL
MOVES SELECTED POLYLINES SEGMENT

To move selected polylines segment:

1. Pick selected segment.
2. Specify new position.

ROPL
ROTATES SELECTED POLYLINES SEGMENT

To rotate selected polylines segment:

1. Pick selected segment.
2. Specify new position.

PLR

RECTIFIES SELECTED POLYLINES SEGMENTS

This command lets you check if polylines are parallel to the orthogonal grid. To rectify
polylines select polylines segment(s). APLUS rectifies selected polylines segment (if
nonparallel) and highlights in red. If selected polylines segment is vertical or
horizontal APLUS does not modify the polyline and highlights it in green.
