1.1
General
Project Description
This design-build-operation & maintenance (DBOM) works contract under JICA assisted
Rajasthan Rural water supply & Fluorosis Mitigation Project (Nagaur) comprises of
providing,
laying,
jointing,
testing
&
commissioning
of
250
mm
to
1500 mm DI/MS pipeline, construction of CWR, pump house. Providing, Erection,
commissioning of EMI work at 8 pumping stations at Jayal-1,Jayal-2,Kerap,Kharwaliya
(Toshina),Budsu, Deedwana, Bamna Kallan and Bajiyasar(Kitalsar) villages. A Brief
description of aforesaid works are mentioned below
(1) Clear Water Reservoir (CWR)
The RCC reservoir shall be designed & constructed for having an effective storage capacity as
mentioned in table below.

This work will include construction of RCC framed pump house inclusive of gantry beams,
cable trenches, access platforms, staircases, railings & RCC pump suction sump. It will also
include construction of chambers for electromagnetic flow meters & valves outside the
pump house.

(7) Crossings
Railway/ National highway crossings will be executed by trenchless method. This includes
pushing of MS casing pipe / Box culvert by hydraulic jacking & smooth controlled pushing
method. General arrangement drawings of crossings are attached for perusal.The
following are the crossings:

(b) At Loroli Tapping-Kharwaliya (Toshina)

7.2 NH/SH Crossings:

(b) SH crossing at SH 60 on Jayal - Kerap Stretch
(c) SH crossing at SH 60 at three places on Kerap - Deedwana Stretch
(d) SH crossing (Kuchaman road ) on Deedwana - Ladariya
(e) SH crossing at SH 7D on Deedwana - Jatanpura Stretch

Site Topography
The project site is barren land with some built up locations. The soil strata is mostly sandy.
2.3
Climatic Data
3.1
General
The climate in Jayal and Didwana is desert climate, during the year, there is virtually no rainfall. The
average annual temperature is 25.7 C in Jayal. Precipitation here averages 347 mm whereas the
average annual temperature in Didwana is 25.6 C and the average annual rainfall is 210 mm.
3.2 Basic Design Data
The plant shall be designed, constructed and installed taking into account of site ambient and local
conditions. The Contractor shall give due allowance to the design of plant process tanks and filters
for the ambient temperature and direct sunlight to be encountered.

General
The contractor shall take all the precautions for safeguarding the environment during the course of
the construction of the works. He shall abide by all laws, rules and regulations in force governing
pollution & environmental protection that are applicable in an area where the works are situated.
A. Air Pollut ion Control
The Contractor shall take all reasonable steps to minimize dust nuisance during the
construction of the works. All existing highways and roads used by vehicle of the Contractor
or any of his sub-contractors or suppliers of materials or plant, and similarly any new roads
which are part of the works and which are being used by traffic, shall be kept clean and clear
of all dust/mud or other extraneous materials dropped by the said vehicles or their tyres.
Similarly, the Contractor shall immediately clear all dust/mud or other extraneous materials
from the works spreading on these highways.
B.

The contractor shall carry out the works in such a manner that soil erosion is fully controlled
and sedimentation & pollution of natural water courses, ponds, tanks & reservoirs are
avoided. The stipulations in clause 306 of MORTH specifications shall govern.

The Contractor shall ensure that safety processes are put in place to promote a safe
environment and structural elements of the project shall be designed, constructed and
operated to meet good international industry practice.
Measuring Units
The international SI-system of measures and weights shall exclusively be used for documents,
correspondence, drawings, instrument scales, on workstation, printouts, etc.

Scope of works
The services to be provided within the framework of this specification comprise the planning,
complete supply and execution in every aspect including all necessary calculations and
documentation, prefabrication, delivery, erection and acceptance of all civil works required for
faultless operation of the plant in the following fields

obstacles, grading, leveling, grubbing and filling and compacting the complete site to the

9.4
Buildings
Following buildings including isolated foundations, pile caps; RCC frame work, structural steel,
architectural finishes, plumbing, furniture, appliances, waterproofing etc. are included in the scope of
works:
a) Substation building -8 nos
b) Clear water Pump house -8 nos at Jayal-1,Jayal-2,Kerap,Kharwaliya (Toshina),Budsu,
Deedwana, Bamna Kallan and Bajiyasar(Kitalsar) villages.
9.5
Equipment foundations
Foundation for the following equipment with protective coating, pile caps are included in the scope:
a) Pump foundations
b) Pipe racks
c) Transformer foundations
9.6 Tanks & Pits
Following tanks including protective coating, plastering and painting are included in scope

9.7
Outdoor facilities
Following outdoor facilities including all necessary civil works are included in the scope:

9.8 Drainage network
Following drainage network comprising of trenching, pipe laying etc. are included in the scope:
a) Storm water and process drains
b) Domestic sewage drains,
c) Oil Pit for transformers.
d) Effluent drains;
e) Manholes;
f) Collection pit;
g) Valve chambers;
9.9 Cable Containment
Trench works comprising of excavation, sand bedding, backfilling with selected earth, disposal of
excess material, warning tapes, cable protection tiles etc. for the following are included in the scope:

Roads
Road access shall be provided to outdoor contract works equipment and campus development areas.
Finished surfaces around equipment maintenance laydown areas shall be compacted gravel suitable
for heavy vehicular access & maintenance.
9.11
Land Finishes
Furniture as required for proper functioning of offices, control rooms & human resources.
9.13
Horticulture and Landscaping shall be done according to the topography of the area and should be
planned so as to make the campus a focal point. The open areas must either be covered by tree
plantation or must be suitably grassed. Shadow trees must be planted at a maximum distance of 30
m c/c along the periphery of the campus area and along the roads. The campus must be provided
with gardens, with seasonal flowerbeds and decorative plants.
Horticulture operations shall be started on ground previously levelled and dressed to require
formation levels and slopes. In case where unsuitable soil is met with, it shall be either removed or
replaced or it shall be covered over to a thickness decided by Engineer-in-charge with good earth
materials.
9.14 Rainwater Harvesting
The Contractor shall construct a complete Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) system at each Pumping
station locations at Jayal 1, Jayal 2, Kerap, Kharwaliya (Toshina), Budsu, Deedwana, Bamna Kallan
and Bajiasar (Kitalsar). System will consist of following units:a) Desilting / Filter Pit:Excavated pit constructed with RCC Chamber and filled with stone/brick/ filter media for
water filtration shall be provided.
a) Collection Tank:For storage of rain water a 50000 litres capacity RCC storage tank in M 25 design mix shall
be provided.
b) Recharge Tank:To collect the initial rain from roof and overflow rain water from collection tank, a recharge
tank shall be constructed. This tank shall be constructed in a size of 1.50 X 1.50 X 5.00 mtr
with M25 grade RCC floor, wall and roof covering. Provisions of vent pipes, one opening
covered with manhole cover shall be made. Facilities for by-passing of initial rain water from

roof and overflow from collection tank shall be provided. The Contractor shall also design and
provide required facilities for the use of harvested water.
The work shall include all other civil works not specified above but required to complete the
work of civil works at all head works as on turnkey basis to achieve the intended objectives in
safe, secure, reliable manner adopting best engineering practices.
11 Deliverables
Contractor shall submit the following with the quotation:
a) BOQ duly filled;
b) List of inclusion & exclusion;
c) List of equipment;
d) Manpower histogram;
e) Construction schedule.
f) Method statement for all civil works
