Application: STAAD

First Class: Easy steps on STAAD Editor, just to give an indication about
how STAAD understands commands and how does it deal with them.
Second Class:

Steps are as follows :


First : Making a file
Open STAAD ----> New Project ----> Space ----> KN & Meter ----> Store it
on the "Local Disk (D)" ----> Add Beam ----> Finish
OR, if you already opened STAAD
File ---> New ----> Space ----> KN & Meter ----> (type the file's name) ---->
Store it on the "Local Disk (D)" ----> Add Beam ----> Finish

Now if you noticed, the structure is in the 3D mode Figure (1), and at the
beginning of this course we will use the 2D Structure mode. Now look at
the top left of the STAAD tools bar, you will find 7 boxes,
these are the view mode that you will select to work,
and for the 2D Structure purposes we will use

Second: Example Procedures
1- Go to "Geometry" Tab ----> Beam
1a.[ For STAAD 2006 users, from the right of your screen choose Irregular
and type the coordinates and not to forget to use Space Bar between
each dimension then [Snap Node/Beam] and begin drawing from left to
right ].

1b.[ For STAAD 2007 users, from the right of your screen you will find
, hit it and a window will appear,
choose Irregular,
and dont forget to put a name in the Name window
Relative gridline distances type the Coordinates,
then press the Ok button.

3.Assigning
our Example
In the previous steps we define materials and the sections , but we did not
assign ( Assigning is giving the section its characteristics)
3.1. Make sure that you have the current section chosen
Then you have many different ways to choose all beams, but dont forget
to make sure that the beam curser is working probably

Notes :
The structure is built in the "Modeling Mode" but the results are shown in
the "Post processing Mode, and then cause of that I have to different
windows.
