RENEW GA 2016
A worship celebration and prayer service with Dr. J. Robert White
Climax Baptist Church
Monday, February 29, 2016
7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
RENEW GA is a great opportunity for churches in Bowen Baptist
Association to gather for worship and to pray for spiritual renewal in
Georgia! The theme is Passionately praying, pursuing and preparing
for spiritual renewal in our lives, homes, churches and associations.
Dr. White will be the inspirational speaker for RENEW GA. He has a
passion for seeing renewal and revival in our state. We encourage each
church to pray for this event and to plan on participating. There is no
registration required and admission is free! Meet us there or call the
office to reserve a seat on the church van. Please contact Alan Folsom

FEBRUARY UNDERWEAR & SOCK DRIVE
The FBC Mission Committee is sponsoring a sock and underwear drive
to help the homeless children of Decatur county (approximately 90 in
the county).
The needs are:
Boy's small, medium or large underwear, men's size small boxers, and
socks of all sizes. Girl's underwear sizes 2-14 (expect not size 7/8) and
socks for small girls. Place donations in designated mission boxes.
If you prefer, you can give money to Amy Pelham or Delrose Betts.

HANDBELL FESTIVAL
Join our handbell choir at 3 PM, on Saturday, February 20th,
in the Fellowship Hall of the Cairo First United Methodist
Church, as they conclude a handbell Festival with a concert of
the music they have learned. Six choirs from Cairo,
Thomasville, Tallahassee and Bainbridge have worked
together over the weekend to share these beautiful sounds with
you.

WORSHIP REMINDER
Our Chancel Choir and Saints Alive Choirs will combine in
the 11:00 AM worship service this Sunday to share a special
musical witness song. It is always a joy when both groups
unite to share their praise together. Singers Note: Meet in the
Choir room at 10:45 for our final rehearsal. No robes this
week.

BONUS REHEARSAL FOR EASTER MUSIC

This weeks bonus rehearsal for the Easter musical is for all
singers. Meet in the Choir Room at 5-6:15 PM.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE TIME SET

Plan to join us at 7:15 AM on Sunday, March 27 for our
annual Easter Sunrise Service. Follow the signs at the Decatur
County Airpark to the west end where we gather to celebrate
Christs resurrection. Bring your lawn chair (and blanket, if
needed) and worship our Risen Savior with the sunrise!

FELLOWSHIP CLUB
Seniors, join with us at noon, Monday, March 7, as we have
our monthly Fellowship Club gathering.

School Class for singing last Sunday evening. You were great!

AWANA Sunday Nights @ 5:30 pm

Last Sunday night, all the AWANA clubbers were challenged to say 100
verses combined and I would get a pie. When we only had 15 clubbers attend,
I was sure I would not be pied. But I was wrong! Those 15 kids said a
combined 158 verses! Kassie Widner said 40 by herself and got to pie me. I
am so proud of this group of kids! And I am grateful to all the adults who help
make AWANA such a success!
This week it is Go Fishin' Night. Kids are encouraged to dress up like
fisherman. For every verse they say, they will get to "fish" for a prize!
Extended Session
There are two holes in our volunteer line up during the 11 am service. I am
looking for individuals to complete the Sundays for two ladies that have
recently moved. Sundays to volunteer are below. If you can make all but one
or two, it is very easy to trade out Sundays! Please consider volunteering to
oversee some pretty great kiddos!

Disciple Now Weekend Recap

Disciple Now has come and gone and what a tremendous
weekend we had. First Baptist was well represented with a
total of 81 students participating with our church. We also
had 10 terrific small group leaders give up their weekend to
lead Bible studies and 8 host homes that were responsible for
housing the students and leaders. Also, we had an awesome
team prepare the meal and host at First Baptist on Saturday
night. This years D-Now was a great weekend! Thank you
to everyone who had a part in making it happen!!

VBS!

IMPACT and Wired

Submerged: Psalm 139:23-24 June 20-24 (evening, times TBA)

It's time to get all our preparations for VBS! If you are willing to donate a few
supplies, please see the board in the Fellowship Hall and take a paper fish with
a supply with you. Fish are color coded by cost of the item. Donated supplies
may be returned to the basket outside the church office. We really appreciate
your donations!!
DATE CHANGE! Calling all crafters! Or those you can trace and cut! If
you are willing to help decorate for VBS, please attend our initial meeting on
Sunday, March 6 at 4 pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will go over the big
ideas and begin to divide and conquer on projects. NO previous craft
experience needed!
Rotation Leaders Needed! I am looking to fill all the rotation leader
positions, especially in crafts. Rotations include missions, recreation, crafts,
Bible story, and music. Is God calling you to serve this year?
Jesus is Our Guiding Light Egg Hunt
Wednesday, March 9 6:45 pm Green Space
We will be hunting glow in the dark eggs and playing some games! I am super
excited about all the fun in store and the opportunity to really understand the
concept that Jesus is the light of the world!

What's Happening:
February 21 AWANA Go Fishin' Night
February 21 Children's Committee Meeting- Preschool Committee invited!

Impact is a ministry for middle school, high school, and

college students to gather together for a night of worship,
prayer, and fellowship. The first meeting is set for Saturday,
February 27th at the Firehouse Gallery from 7:00pm-10:00pm.
Also, if you are planning on attending Wired this summer a
$50 deposit is due by Wednesday, February 24th. The dates
for the camp are June 26th-July 1st. Wired is a mission camp
that is located in Dothan, AL. Students will be participating in
mission projects throughout the week while gathering for
worship together in the evenings.
