interpretation of research data and also to educate the
participants about the latest techniques and method used
for effective analysis of research data. The contents of
the workshop will be beneficial to scholars and
academicians to enrich the developments in theoretical
tools and empirical methods with practical experience
using SPSS.

About the workshop

The course on Research Methodology and Data Analytics
for Social Sciences is designed to impart knowledge for
scientific research, to integrate qualitative and
quantitative approaches in research and to orient the
young researchers to new advanced techniques for
precise, rational and scientific research. It also aims to
train the scholars with advanced statistical packages including SPSS for using in various fields and sub fields of
social sciences. It is particularly meant for those who are

project and the data generated would be used for
application of various statistical concepts and techniques,
from simple univariate to more complex multivariate
techniques of data analysis.

Introduction to research methodology, basics of

research and its types

Qualitative research techniques and basics of

empirical research

Sampling techniques,
hypotheses formulation

Descriptive statistics, introduction

parametric and non-parametric tests

Artificial neural networks and Support Vector

Machine

Mechanics of writing research paper, handling

plagiarism and selecting journals

Hands-on-session using statistical and econometric

software packages

Eligibility to participate
Registered Ph.D. students of any recognized Indian
university/research institute in any branch of Social
Sciences would be invited for this training workshop.
The candidates with basic knowledge of statistics &
computer application and belonging to backward
community and backward regions will be preferred.

22nd February, 2016. The candidates are required to
send the registration form duly forwarded by the Ph.D.
supervisor and head of the department to the email ID of
the course director, followed by hard copy of the
