Jerry is homeless staying at a shelter in Ward’s Island.

Jerry is Roman Catholic and Polish. He moved here from
Poland 21 years ago. Since coming here, he was a car-
penter for 20 years, but one day, his life was changed in
an instant. One rainy day, he was riding his bicycle in the
street and suddenly, a truck struck him and threw him off
his bicycle into a tree.

When he woke, he was in the hospital with broken ribs,
