OMT Installation

After installation of the repeater, the Operation & Maintenance Terminal shall be used to
initialize and control the repeater setups by enquiring, changing and monitoring over
various repeater sites and engineering parameters. OMT can be connected by local,
remote data or SMS modes, allowing real time monitoring and maintenance over
repeaters.

Hardware
Minimum Hardware configuration for OMT installation

100MHz Intel CPU

32M RAM

32M Disc free space

COM Port

Hays Modem

Windows 95/98 or Windows NT4.0, Service Pack 3 or above

Installation procedure
Make sure there is no other application running, and:

Insert the CD-ROM and auto run setup.exe installation file.

If the auto run file is not started, open the CD-ROM directory and click
setup.exe to start installation.

Press Next on Welcome window. See Figure 1-1.

2). Select the installation path. See Figure 1-2

3). Click Install, as Figure 1-3.

4). Click Install the Drive. See Figure 1-4.

5). Click finish to end the installation. As Figure 1-5

6). Configure the System Config as you wish.

Operation
This part introduces how to configure and setup for local and remote connection for

repeater using OMT.

Hardware Preparation
Follow the next steps:
Local Control:
1. Turn on the repeater.
2. Turn on the PC.
3. Connect PC to the RS232 serial port in repeater
with RS232 Data cable. Set the COM Port in use
in OMT. Press Connect to connect OMT/PC and
Repeater.

Remote Control:
1. Connect OMT/PC and the modem with PC.
2. Install a SIM card and turn on the repeater
3. Turn on the modem and PC

Start Program
Start OMT. Choose OMT from Start menu, or double click the OMT icon on desktop.

The window See Figure 1-6 pops up after running the program.

Remote Connection:
1). Click system Connect Config see Figure 1-7

Choose the right monitoring way as SMS(NMS).

Choose the Modem Type. Suppose it is a GSM repeater, then select GSM.
choose China Telecom CDMA if it is CDMA repeater.
Add the SIM card(In the repeater) number on the Modem Type.
Choose the correct Com Number according to the Device Manager of PC

3). Click Identify to connect the repeater. See Figure 1-10, after that, see Figure 1-11

4). Enter the factory state, as Figure 1-12

5). Set the Query/Control Phone No.1 and Alarm Phone No.1 as the SIM card number
inside the modem connecting with OMT. See Figure 1-13

6). How to Query data.
z Select the item you want query, click query. As Figure 1-14

7). How to set data.

z Click the blank area on set value. After set the right value, click set to finish the
setup. See Figure 1-15

z Example 1. Set the FA channel switch.

-select FA CH Setting under Setting. Choose the needed channel. As Figure 1-16

Example 2. Set Through Mode. Once the Through mode on, then the ICM will be
Bypass. If it is off, then ICM work normally. See Figure 1-17

Example 3. Set ICM Setting. Turn on the DL/UL Cancellation Mode to turn on the
ICM. As Figure 1-18

Local Connection (use data cable connection):
1). Click system Connect Config see Figure 1-19

2). Configure the Connection Config as Figure 1-20:

z Choose the right monitoring way as Local (monitor with data cable)
z Choose the correct Com Number according to the Device Manager of PC

The rest part (query and set) is totally same as the remote monitoring.

Note:
1. When use remote monitoring (SMS). It is better query one data per time to ensure the
rapid feedback. It is not suggest to Select All.
2. For the remote monitoring using CDMA modem. Sunwave OMT just support few
CDMA Modem by now. Like ZTE AC 2736.
3. Enter the factory mode first before you want to set the data.
