PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

From Elected Committee to Inspiring Dhamma Leaders/Workers Successfully!


For many elected Committee Members, being in the role is just mere fulfilling their duties and
responsibilities.
When this happens to you, it's all too easy to get caught unawares: as a key leader in your
organization, you obviously possess certain capabilities to do more for the Community. But managing
and leading your team and Community is a brand new challenge to many, which requires a
completely different set of skills, competencies and spiritual insights.
The good news is that we can all learn to be an Inspiring Dhamma Leader. The proposed program
modules based on the Dhammapada Verse 182 are designed specifically to help new and existing
Buddhist Leaders/Workers to be more inspired and effective at what they are expected to do Dhammaduta. The following are the outlines of the 4 modules :

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
At the end of the program, participants are able to:

Understand and appreciate the Uniqueness of being a Human Being, the Challenges of human
life, the Privilege opportunity to hear the Dhamma and the Rare appearance of the Buddha.
Reflect and empower self to take charge of own life and enrich others through effective
leadership with Dhamma.

PROGRAM MODULES
Verse 182: Rare to gain is birth as man; hard is the life of mortals; hard to get is the opportunity of
hearing the Ariya Dhamma (Teaching of the Buddhas); rare it is for a Buddha to appear.

PROGRAM METHODOLOGY
The program methodology used is as follow:

Lecture, group discussion & presentation, simulation, case study and video viewing.
Inter-module/session assignments, practical feedbacks and reflection
In-session Dhamma coaching, sharing and tips

A total of 4 runs of 1-day session for a duration of 2 months.

Tan Huat Chye is currently the Partner and


Principal Consultant for THC Consulting Sdn. Bhd.

Graduated from UPM with an Education Degree and a Master Degree in SocioPsychology from Universiti Malaya
Currently is the Partner and Principal Consultant of THC Consulting Sdn. Bhd a
Malaysian-based Organisational Development (OD) consulting outfit.
Prior to this, he worked as General Manager of Organisational Development for a
large local conglomerate in Malaysia ( The Sunway Group ). In his tenure there, he
strategized and implemented various Organisational Development initiatives such as
Talent Identification and Development initiative, Succession Planning roll-out and
Competency development work.
Huat Chye had also worked as Senior Vice-President of Human Resources for Great
Eastern Life and a Senior Consultant for HayGroup, a leading US global HR
Consulting firm.
Mr. Tan Huat Chye, a certified NLP Practitioner, holds a Master Degree in Education
(Socio-Psychology) from University of Malaya and a Certificate in Training &
Development. He is also trained and certified in various tools and program such as
Firo-B, 6 Seconds EQ Program, MBTI, Thomas International DISC, FocusBehavioral Interview (FBI), Leadership Awakening Program (LEAP), Competencies
Assessment Tools, Job Analysis and Job Evaluation.
Got in touch with Buddhism since schooling days in Melaka founded the Malacca
Catholic High School Buddhist Society (1976), the Pasir Panjang Teachres Training
College Buddhist Fellowship ( 1980) and Founding Members of Bentong Buddhist
Association and Kemayan Buddhist Association.
Main source of inspiration has always been the late Ven K,Sri Dhammananda, whose
talks and writings had earlier introduced him to Buddhism in 1975.
Previously served 2 terms as the Committee Members of Buddhist Missionary
Society of Malaysia and the Founding President of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society,
Puchong.

A well sought after Buddhist speakers for conferences and Inter-faith Dialogue or
Forum. Huat Chye had been invited as a panelist for Dialog Harmoni in TV Al-Hijrah
(2012 and 2013). He is actively giving Dhamma Talks and leadership training to
various Buddhist societies of colleges & universities, temples and Buddhist centres
Huat Chye is also a member of the Music Authors Copyright Protection Bhd (MACP)
and an accomplished song writer with many Commercial songs to his credits. He has
also appeared in many TV programs such as Selamat Pagi Malaysia, RSB, Wanita
Hari Ini and also assumed as a Guest DJ for 988 FM.
Has written over a dozen popular commercial songs. Also involves in Buddhist Music
development work in Malaysia. The original group member of the renown English
Buddhist Hymns Group, the Wayfarers.
Personally produced 3 Chinese Buddhist Hymns albums in 1988 (Yi Can Deng), 1992
(Hui Deng) and 1994 (Deng).
Appointed as the Head of the Panel Judges for Fo Guang Shans Master Hsin Yun
Sounds of the Human World International Buddhist Songs Writing Competition
(2008) held in KL Convention Centre.
At present, Bro. Huat Chye is officially the Advisor for the following Buddhist
Organisations:
o Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society
o Bodhi Buddhist Group
o Buddhist Business Network (BBN)
