between managers evaluations of employees and peer evaluations of the same employees. He
is specifically interested in evaluations of leadership potential (L.P.). He collects manager and
peer evaluations of the leadership potential of 28 employees. Higher scores indicate higher
ratings of leadership potential, and the scores for both ratings can range from 1 to 16. These
scores are listed in the table below. Conduct a Pearson correlation coefficient analysis to
determine whether there is a relationship between the manager and peer evaluations for this
group of employees.

The steps will be the same as the ones you have been practicing in Part 1 of the assignmentthe
only difference is that you are now responsible for creating the data file as well. Remember to name
and define your variables under the Variable View, then return to the Data View to enter the data.

figure). Remember to include a decision about the null hypothesis. For a correlation analysis, be
sure to also include the direction of the relationship between the variables (positive? negative?

stress, a health psychologist interviewed people about the time they spend in their daily commute
to work (in minutes) and had them fill out the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS)
(http://www.macses.ucsf.edu/research/psychosocial/pss10.php), with scores ranging from 0 (no
perceived stress) to 10 (high perceived stress). Conduct a Pearson correlation coefficient
analysis to determine whether there is a relationship between the time spent commuting and
perceived stress in this sample.
