a - Pronomes Retos
I. O pronome I, eu, sempre escrito com maiscula.
Thou, tu, forma arcaica. O pronome thou s usado, atualmente, em
linguagem potica ou bblica.
You, a forma usada, equivale a tu, voc, o senhor, a senhora.
He, ele, e she, ela, referem-se a pessoas, animais e coisas personificadas.
It, ele ou ela, pronome neutro, refere-se geralmente a coisa. Pode
tambm referir-se a um beb, quando no indicado o sexo.
We, ns.
Ye, vs, o plural de thou, forma absoleta em prosa. A forma usada
you, que corresponde a vs, vocs, os senhores, as senhoras.
They, eles, elas, plural de he, she e it, refere-se a pessoas, animais e
coisas.
Os pronomes retos so usados como sujeitos da orao.
Ex.:
I wrote two letters, escrevi duas cartas.
He read the letters, ele leu as cartas.
OBSERVAES:
1) Os pronomes retos so tambm usados como complementos do verbo to
be:
It is I, it is they.
2) Em linguagem coloquial, freqente o emprego das formas oblquas:
It is me, it is them.
b - Pronomes Oblquos
As formas me, you (thee), him, her, it, us, you (ye), them so usadas:
1) Como objeto direto:
I saw her yesterday, eu a vi ontem.
She saw us, ela nos viu.
I didn't see them, no os (as) vi.
2) Como objeto indireto preposicionado:
We looked at him, olhamos para ele.
He waits for us, ele nos espera.
3)Como objeto indireto sem preposio;
We gave them a few books, demos-lhes alguns livros.
I told him all that happened, contei-lhe tudo que aconteceu.
2 - PRONOMES POSSESSIVOS
a) Os pronomes adjetivos my, thy, his, her, its, our, your, their e os
pronomes substantivos mine, thine, his, hers, its, ours, yours, theirs
correspondem aos pronomes pessoais:

3 - PRONOMES REFLEXIVOS
a) Pronomes compostos de SELF, SELVES

OBSERVAES:
1) Se a pessoa que fala d a si mesma o tratamento de primeira pessoa do
plural, usa ourself e no ourselves.
2) Quando se fala a uma s pessoa, usa-se yourself e no ourselves.
3) O pronome enftico pode ser empregado aps um verbo intransitivo:
They went themselves.
c) O pronome reflexivo correspondente ao pronome indefinido one, a gente,
oneself: to hurt oneself, ferir-se.
4 - PRONOMES DEMONSTRATIVOS
a) Os demonstrativos:
this , este, esta, isto;
these , estes, estas;
that , esse, essa, isso, aquele, aquela, aquilo; e
those , aqueles, aquelas
So usados:
I) Como pronomes adjetivos:
This boy is writing, este menino est escrevendo.
OBSERVAES:
1) Com os verbos believe, crer, expect, hope, esperar, desejar, suppose,
supor, think, pensar, supor, be afraid, supor, lamentar, sentir muito, recear,
permissvel o emprego de so se desejamos evitar a repetio de uma
observao ou pergunta:
Ex.: Will John come? I think so, Joo vir? Penso que sim.
2) Com o verbo na negativa, podemos empregar so ou not:
Ex.: Will he come? I don't think so ou I think not, ele vir? Penso
que no.
3) Com os verbos be afraid e hope na negativa, s permitida a
construo com not:
Ex.: Shall we be late? Chegaremos atrasados? I hope not, espero
OBSERVAES:
1) Os pronomes each other e one another podem ser usados na forma
OBSERVAES:
Os indefinidos no e every so usados apenas como pronomes adjetivos e
none, anybody, anything, something, nobody, nothing, everybody e
everything, apenas como pronomes substantivos.
