Material handling is one of the key factors that affect the productivity and hence
profitability of a manufacturing enterprise. Efficient and thoughtfully designed material
handling systems can reduce downtime, improve productivity, reduce worker fatigue and
optimize the use of energy, raw materials and manpower needed toaffect the manufacture
of the final product. As Indian manufactures aim for global scales and strives to meet the
stringent quality of discerning export markets, it becomes imperative that material
handling systems used during assembly and manufacture of their products are of global
standards to help them retain the competitive edge.
Most manufacturing concerns to increase efficiencies, reduce worker burden and fatigue,
reduce manpower, provide increase reliability and consistencyand meet faster cycle
times,so by understanding client specific requirement.
The main aim in a generalized form of sales and marketing department is to build the
business, to increase the profits or in simple words, to sell products and services.
Different companies allot different tasks to their marketing department. Some of the

Fine Handling and Automation is a leader in the design and manufacture of manipulators
with vast experience and an extensive customer list. Manipulators with customized
grippers are very helpful for various material handling needs on assembly lines,
machining shops etc., where lifting and orientation change of the component is critical. It
works on zero-gravity principle i.e. a balancing cylinder nullifies/balances the weight of
the component, so that operator can lift and handle it with almost zero efforts.
Advantages:
Effortless lifting.
Greater productivity.
Increased operator safety.
Increased operator performance.
System requires very little maintenance and offers high efficiency.
Fine handling & Automations pneumatic manipulator is very similar in construction and

PRODUCTS
1. Manipulator
Pneumatic Manipulator with articulated arms, equipped with special gripping tools, is
suitable to handle manufactured products having an off-set center of mass compared to
the vertical axis of the Manipulator arm. Its modular structure has been designed to resist
the torsions resulted from this stress. In addition, having the possibility to change the
terminal arm shape and dimensions to suit, the manipulator can be used in particularly
narrow environments.
Benefits:
Manipulators are basically used to make the working environment effortless also to
increase the productivity by reducing the transportation time between two stations by
minimizing pick & place time of component also to increase the performance of operator
by increasing his safety at work place.
2. Conveyor
A belt conveyor system consists of two or more pulleys (sometimes referred to as drums),
with an endless loop of carrying medium the conveyor belt that rotates about them. One
9
or both of the pulleys are powered, moving the belt and the material on the belt forward.
The powered pulley is called the drive pulley while the unpowered pulley is called the
idler pulley. There are two main industrial classes of belt conveyors; Those in general
material handling such as those moving boxes along inside a factory and bulk material
handling such as those used to transport large volumes of resources and agricultural
materials,
10
ATLS has been commonly used in the material handling industry to refer to the
automation of loading or unloading trucks and trailers with product either on or without
pallets, slip sheets, racks, containers, using several different types of automated guided
vehicle systems (AGV) or engineered conveyor belt systems that are integrated into
vehicles, automating the shipping / receiving and logistics operations.
4. Gantry System
Fine Handling and Automation has specialized in the design, development and
manufacture of station-to-station component handling gantry systems. These are fully
automated PLC-based family of gantries that are used to transfer components from one
station to the next while maintaining the tact time of the process.
The Z-movement is precision controlled using high-quality servo-motors and the Xmovement is guided by motorized trolleys on rails as suited. Grippers are electropneumatic in operation and designed according to the application. Our design experience
helps us achieve the best cycle time for your process helping your productivity grow
exponentially.

13
Benefits:
Electrified monorails provide many benefits of a power and free system, but are more
cost effective for moving product through a clean, non-hazardous environment. Material
can be diverted to different lines within the system, allowing for varying processing
speeds, or it can be routed to dead-end accumulation storage areas. Because the direction
of the material flow is directed by each individual trolley, an electrified monorail system
can create ever changing line diversity to meet a facility's current production needs.
7. Jib Crane
The slewing jib crane is based on the crane profiles and follows the modular design
philosophy. Jib lengths of between 2 and 6 m can be realized, in increments of 50 cm and
a load caring capacity of up to 1 Ton. The system is available as a column or wall slewing
crane. The slewing crane can be installed in very short time. The post is secured to the
ground by means of high performance anchors, which do not usually require foundations.
14
As the connections between the jib profile and the guy are carried out using bolts then it
is possible to install the slewing unit quickly.

TASK UNDERTAKEN
Data collection
24
Data collection was a crucial stage in lead generation; we had decided filtration criteria
and targeted sectors to pitch Fine Handlings product. Before contacting an aspiring
client I had to study on following points Aspiring clients product line as well as manufacturing process where products
of Fine Handling can be use full.
I had to undergo through aspiring clients financial status, where I had to study
his previous years financial statements.
While doing study of financial statement our main focus was on company
turnover, those manufacturing companies had turnover of INR 20 crore and
above were liable to contact.
After doing initial research I had to find out the potential contacts from those
companies such as
Director
General Manager
Plant Head
Purchase Manager
Production Manager
Maintenance Manager
Primary concern of collecting contacts was finding people those make decision
of purchase or can had influence on decision making.
Approach
After primary research on desired company I had to approach them through following
techniques to get an appointment for visit
Cold calling
Cold calling is traditionally an early stage in the selling process. Cold calling
typically refers to the first telephone call made to a prospective customer. More
unusually these days, cold calling can also refer to calling face-to-face for the
first time without an appointment at commercial premises or households.
25
Cold mail
First came cold calls, second came cold e-mails. Cold e-mailing is the most
effective and untapped form of networking, not to mention the cheapest one (no
networking events or country club fees). There are extraordinary people to meet,
jobs to get, and advice to receive- it all can be a product of cold e-mails if you
work up the nerve to send them. And really thats all cold e-mailing takes- a lot
of nerve.
In my project I didnt get much success from cold mails, most of the people
not interested to see mails from unknown source.
26
Plant visit
After taking prior appointment of concerned person I had visited their production
plant, where I presented company profile to the concern person and according to
their product&production process tried to pitch suitable equipment.
Plant visit is a most important part in sales because at this stage chances of
requirement are high than any stage.
27
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research is an art of scientific investigation through search for new facts in any branch of
knowledge. It is a moment from known to unknown.
Research may be undertaken with the following purposes, to describe, to explain,
understand, foresee, criticize, and/ or analyse existing knowledge or phenomenon in
social sciences.
To minimize risks.
To save time and money during start-ups.
To learn where and how to sell the product and/or service.
To learn where and how to produce and distribute the product and/or service.
To determine what it will cost to run the business and how to plan to cover costs.
28
RESEARCH APPROACH
Quantitative approach
Qualitative approach
Approach
The reason behind it is explained below-
Qualitative research is research used to gain insight into a problem, issue or theory. It
aims to build an account about the issue and tries to find the reasons why something is
the way it is. It is exploratory in nature and used when very few details of the problem at
hand are known. i.e. when one doesnt know what to expect, to define the problem or
develop an approach to the problem. Quantitative research is a highly subjective research
discipline designed to look beyond the percentages to gain an understanding of the
customers feelings, impressions and viewpoints. It looks at the why and how and
involves making people to talk about their opinions so as to understand their motivations
and feelings by producing observations, notes, and descriptions of behavior and
motivation.
29
Qualitative research was earlier used in the social sciences and now it is extensively used
by market researchers, worker productivity experts, computer systems designers and
product developers to understand how people interact with things in their environment. It
is especially valuable while developing new products or coming up with new marketing
initiatives.
30
SAMPLING
Sample is the small group taken under consideration from the total group. This small
group represents the total group. In this project the DATA was taken from mainly internet
database viz. industrial directory which is available online.
Sampling Design:
Sampling method refers to the rules and procedures by which some elements of
the population are included in the sample.
Non-probabilityJudgmental sampling method was used to achieve the desired
objectives.
31
Primary Data was collected in plant visit, meeting with the person who
makes decision or had influence on decision making.
Secondary data was collected from internet, Company names, their
financial status, primary research on aspiring client profile was completed
using internet.
Sample size:
There are almost 131 companies in database which include all sectors i.e. manufacturing,
forging, pharmaceutical& others.
But considering the project duration, it was not possible to visit those many companies.
Thus companies were shortlisted and visited accordingly.
Company shortlisting was done mainly on two factors
32
