SCENARIO
Orchid Hotels is one of the famous brand of low-cost hotel chain in Malaysia. Headquartered
in Penang, it has other branches in Langkawi, Johor Bahru, Malacca and at the central of
Kuala Lumpur. The hotel provides good quality of room with private bathroom and basic
amenities for their customers comfort. Even though the rooms are minimally priced, Orchid
Hotels provide free housekeeping and laundry services together with wireless Internet
services for their customers to use. For security purpose, each room has electronic key card
access and the hotel is fully equipped with CCTV systems. All reservations are made through
Orchid Hotel website and few PCs are located at the lobby area for walk in customers to
make the reservation.
The hotel management has decided to expand their business to Bukit Jalil area, since there
will be a massive upcoming development of shopping complex and amenities nearby. The
huge Bukit Jalil National Stadium is also an added advantage to the area, as it can host
various events such as sport games, concerts or exhibitions. Another attraction to Bukit Jalil
is the easy accessibility either through major highways, or public transport services to the
central of Kuala Lumpur.
REQUIREMENTS
Your team has been selected as the network consultant for this project. The CEO requires
your teams expertise to take on the responsibility of proposing the network, the necessary
equipment and any other operational requirements for their newly purchased 6 storey
building. The ground floor is reserved for hotel lobby, reception area and housekeeping &
laundry room; while the 2nd floor is reserved for the office departments and server room.

The rest of the floors are dedicated for hotel rooms. The whole building is equipped with
secured wireless network (WiFi) for customers, and for the staff, they are using wired
connection since it is more reliable.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. You are required to complete the assignment in a group of not more than 4 members. No
individual submission is allowed for the 1st attempt.
2. You are required to build a complete computer network environment for the
organisation. Part of the project requires to do some research on the proposed network
devices which to be use in this project. The comparison and reasons should be given in
the choices of devices.
3. Design the floor plan using Microsoft Visio and provide configuration of the logical
network diagram using Cisco Packet Tracer. Submit the softcopy of floor plan and
network diagram (configuration) together with the assignment.
4. Critically discuss the implementation issues and relevant solutions needed in terms of
performance, reliability, security and sustainability. The design should be proven to have
a good solution from research perspective.
5. As part of project management, you are required to develop a Gantt chart (project plan)
that indicates clearly the activities that are required in order for the project to be a
success.
6. Attach the completed Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Marking Scheme in your
final report. WBS must be signed and agreed by all group members.
7. The report has to be well presented and should be typed. Submission of reports that are
unprofessional in its outlook (dirty, disorganised, inconsistent look, varying coloured
paper and size) will not fair well when marks are allocated.
8. Ensure that the report is printed on standard A4 (210 X 297 mm) sized paper. Paper
weight of 80 grams and above is highly recommended.
9. The report should have a one (1) margin all around the page as illustrated below:

10. Every report must have a front cover. A transparent plastic sheet can be placed in front of
the report to protect the front cover. The front cover should have the following details:a) Name of group members.
b) Intake code.
c) Subject.
d) Project Title.
e) Date Assigned (the date the report was handed out).
f) Date Completed (the date the report is due to be handed in).
11. Plagiarism is a serious offence and will automatically be awarded zero (0) marks.
12. All information, figures and diagrams obtained from external sources MUST be
referenced using the Harvard referencing system accordingly.
*IMPORTANT*
You have to hand in your assignment hardcopy on time with the Course Work Submission
and Feed Back Form.

For students who have to re-do the assignment (failed the 1 st attempt), produce the
assignment individually. Complete the group components and choose one individual
component for the new submission.
