VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is an international NGO focussed on Child Rights. To support the
development of its project in Boma State, Tdh is encouraging applications from South Sudanese nationals for
the role of:

Awareness Officer (CPO) REF:


Duty station: Boma, GPAA (Boma State)
Contract duration: 10 months (with possibility to be renewed)
Starting Date: ASAP
Main responsibilities:

- Liaise with the WASH project team to conduct KAP survey before and after;
- Conduct hygiene awareness campaign in the targeted communities in collaboration with the
hygiene promoters;

- Supervise hygiene promoters to carry their tasks effectively and efficiently;


- Identify WASH training needs for community groups;
- Participate in the recruitment and training of hygiene promoters and other community groups
within the project locations;

- Ensure the distribution of hygiene kits for households;


- Advise the WASH team in water, sanitation and hygiene promotion programming, in broad
coordination with other CP sector;

- Contribute in analysing the baseline study data to determine the underlining needs of the
beneficiaries

- Contribute to the development of materials to promote safe WASH practices, including


appropriate use and maintenance of water facilities and services

- Contribute to contingency planning for possible WASH emergency response if required;


- Liaise with project team and community to ensure WASH activities maximize gender
mainstreaming and inclusiveness of vulnerable & disable groups;

Promote community involvement and ownership in all water and sanitation activities;
Actively participate and contribute to coordination meetings in the County;
Ensure Tdh actively coordinates and contributes to the Countys WASH coordination and plans;
Coordinate with other actors working in the same location and inform line manager on the latest
development and any plans regarding to the project locations or the targeted population;

- Oversee staff knowledge of, agreement to, and compliance with Tdhs Child Protection Policies;
- Collect field reports, check accuracy of data and combine reports on weekly and monthly basis
for the submission to the line manager;

- Prepare program reports for the WASH Project Manager on a weekly and monthly basis which
includes quantitative and qualitative information on project accomplishments and impact;

- Inform line manager of challenges faced in doing the work, and if additional support is needed;
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and ensure child safeguarding concerns are
reported and followed up;

- Establish synergies with other initiatives and projects to better respond to the needs of the target
group;

- Ensure that action is taken to mitigate priority water and sanitation related health risks;
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager

Requirements:

Minimum diploma-level education in related field ( preferably social science, social work).
Minimum 1 year experience in similar position with I/NGOs.
