Roman travian game strategy

It is quite interesting to learn about Roman travian game strategy. Roman travia
n game strategy is something that has been around for some time now, but not muc
h has been said about it.
Use your advantages. You have decent merchants, building capabilities, and sturd
y troops. Take a look at the local area, and consider how long the server protec
ts you before you can be raided - most likely seven days. So you don ' t need to
build any defenses right now - no wall, no cranny, nothing. What you need to do
now is get your economy off to a good start. You need all four resources, but y
ou ' ll need the most clay, the next most wood, the next most iron, and the leas
t crops, so build them in roughly that order. Just build your economy for now -
don ' t worry about anything else.
On about term six, you need to look around and take stock. Are you surrounded by
a bunch of size 3 villages duck inactive players, or a bunch of villages twice
your size hush up close and hungry players? Build at least 2 - 3 levels of crann
y to protect your high-priced resources. You can again start building your hango
ut. Take a look at the building tree to see the prerequisites for everything. He
re ' s roughly what to do:
* Main Building 3
* Rally Point
* Barracks
* 5 Legionnaires
* [Start raiding inactive small neighbors for resources]
* Marketplace
* [Look for deals to trade with nearby people]
* Barracks 3
* Academy 5
* Blacksmith
* [Research Imperian at Academy]
* Stable
* [Research Equites Legati at Academy]
Somewhere in there you need to keep adding to your cranny and adding a Granary a
nd Warehouse as necessary. Much depends on whether you are getting attacked and
how many inactive neighbors you have to raid. If you aren ' t getting attacked a
nd your neighbors are all inactive, hire more Legionnaires and send them raiding
as often as you can. If you are getting attacked, build your cranny up to level
10 so the attackers go away empty - handed. Continue building your resources -
this has to be a continual priority.
Don t worry about getting Praetorians. This is not a defensive game. You want Impe
rians, which are much better raiders. Once you have them, you can really start r
aiding. All the inactive villages within 3 squares of you should be getting hit
daily - clean them out! Build your resources! Build your main building as little
as possible - that sounds a little counter - intuitive, but you ' re taking adv
antage of your special ability to build building and resource fields simultaneou
sly - you don ' t need the speed boost given by the main building since you do t
wo at a time.

Ignorance is bliss they say. However, do you find this practical when you read s
o much about Roman travian game strategy?
Once you can research Equites Legati, you re in good shape. Hire about 2 scouts, a
nd send them out individually to scout your neighbors. You can gather a lot of i
nformation that way, to make your raids maximally profitable.
Dealing with Active Enemies Nearby
Gauls aren t likely to be a problem. Their defensive orientation means they probab
ly won t come after you. Their defensive orientation also makes them difficult for
you to attack (assuming you are similar in power ). I recommend a live - and -
let - live policy toward Gauls if at all possible. If it isn ' t, defense may be
your best bet - let the Gauls come to you, break them with your strong infantry
defense and a few levels of walls, then punish them. If the Gaul player is atta
cking with Phalanxes, he deserves what he gets.
Romans may be a problem. Once you get scouts, check them out. Remember, this is
an offensive game - hitting first is advisable, if at all possible. Figure out w
hen your opponent is active and when he isn ' t. Try to hit first with overwhelm
ing numbers, and then keep hitting him until his resources are cleaned out.
Teutons are likely to be a problem. The Teuton setup is gearing toward massive e
arly raiding. However, it is completely non - defensive. Thus, to eliminate the
threat, you want to catch his troops while they re at home, and smash them. Do lot
s of scouting. If you re getting hit, you can build up your troops and as they are
trained, reinforce a nearby (the other direction from the Teuton) inactive vill
age. Once you see an opportunity to hit him, recall your troops and the instant
they get home, send them out to hit the Teuton player. None of the early troops
available to the Teutons are much good against Imperians.
Upgrading to Cavalry
Roman medium cavalry is quite expensive to develop. It will be quite hard to ama
ss enough resources to develop if you are under constant Teuton attack - you wil
l need many crannies. So, this will likely have to be left for some days or week
s after you develop scouts. The medium cavalry do make excellent raiders, howeve
r.
Safeguarding Your Troops
Your troops are expensive. Keep them alive. Attack only undefended villages or w
here you have overwhelming force. Use scouts extensively before you attack!
