SECTION B: ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS

8. The rate of heat transfer from a small body to a surface depends on the distance between
the body and the surface. The surface passes through the points (6, 1, 1), (2, 2, 0) and
(2, 1, 1). Show that a non-parametric equation for this surface is
x + 2y 2z = 6.
Given that the body lies at the origin (0, 0, 0), find the shortest distance between the
body and the surface.

9. Kirchhoffs laws for the circuit shown in Figure 1 give
