Harry Potter Trivia Challenge (A)

Make Your Own Golden Snitch

The Mirror of Erised shows nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate desire of our heart.
For Harry, he sees the family he has never known. Ron sees himself finally stepping out from his older
brothers shadows.

Kings Crossword Puzzle

In Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, Harry becomes the star player of the Gryffindor Quidditch team
by catching the Golden Snitch, a golden ball bewitched to fly around the Quidditch pitch. Now you can
catch and keep your own Golden Snitch!
Tips:
Work carefully and be patient, allowing glue, paint, or ink time to dry before you move on to the
next step.
Decorate your Snitch in a unique way to make sure it stands out.
Minimize the amount of mess you make and clean up before you move on to the next activity.

November Activity 1: What Is Your Hearts Desire?


For this creative writing exercise, members will think back to the scene in Harry Potter and the
Sorcerers Stone when Harry and Ron first encounter the Mirror of Erised. Ask members to imagine what
they desire most in their life. Then, ask them to write a few paragraphs about what they want most, or
what they hope that their future holds.
Prepare ahead:
1) Photocopy one worksheet per member.
2) Make sure you have plenty of pencils.
During the activity:
1) Discuss the topic and have members brainstorm some examples.
2) Allow members about ten minutes to craft their responses.

November Activity 2: Make Your Own Golden Snitch


Every Quidditch seeker dreams of catching the Golden Snitch. For this activity, members will get a
chance to make their very own versions of the coveted flying ball! Encourage members to be creative
and to consider adding their own personal touches that will make their creations unique.
Prepare ahead:
1) Gather supplies such as small foam balls, feathers, glue, markers, paint, and glitter.
2) Bring in old newspapers or butcher paper to protect your workspace.
During the activity:
1) Set out enough supplies for each member.
2) Explain the activity and let participants get to work!
3) When theyre done, invite everyone to show their finished Snitch to the group.

Activity 3: Harry Potter Trivia Challenge


For this activity, club members will get a chance to show off just how much they know about Harry
Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.
Prepare ahead:
1) Print out four copies of the Harry Potter Trivia Challenge (A) game board.
2) Print out one copy of the Harry Potter Trivia Challenge (B) host question sheet.
3) You might want to provide a bell or some sort of buzzer for each team.
During the activity:
1) Have club members divide into three teams.
2) Give each team one copy of the Harry Potter Trivia Challenge (A) game board, which features categories
and point values.
3) Keep one copy each of the Harry Potter Trivia Challenge (A) game board and the Harry Potter Trivia
Challenge (B) host question sheet for yourself.
4) Explain the rules to the group.
Rules:
1) D
 ecide which team goes first and ask them to select a category and point value.
2) Read the question that corresponds to the selected category and point value. (If the team cannot provide
the correct response, you may provide a hint and/or allow the other teams a chance to buzz in to
answer.) The team that answers the question correctly gets to choose the next category and point value.
3) After each question is read, club members will need to hit their buzzers in order to answer. The first
team to buzz in, will get the first chance to answer the question.
4) A
 fter each question is answered, cross off the corresponding box on your copy of the Harry Potter Trivia
Challenge (A) game board.
5) Be sure to keep track of each teams score.
6) Continue to play until all of the game board boxes have been eliminated.
